If you bought an after market EGR valve you need to make sure was identical to your original there are many different ones out. I have customer replaces theirs and come in to find out the one they bought was for a 2.2 S-10. BUt i have also seen a lot of these replaced when it was just a bad harness or broken wire before the connector. The wires are generally pulled over the connector very tight and over time they break inside.

What controls the opening and closing of the EGR solenoid?

ECU controls the EGR system. Check for vacuum to the valve with the engine running. There should be no vacuum. If you have vacuum disconnect the electrical to the vacuum control solenoid and see if the vacuum goes away. If it does you have a command or wiring problem and will need to trace the signal wire back to the ECU.

01 gmc sonoma 4 3L W vin engine swap again found a 02 4 3L X vin has no egr system can I use the whole engine and eliminate the egr system and reflash the computer with a tech 2 scanner to make it not look...

No, its better to just swap over all necessary components especially since your vehicle is categorized with EGR and may not pass emissions if you eliminate it.

EGR valve is being cleaned due to "Check Engine"

CLEANING THE VALVE WILL NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE, IT SHOULD BE REPLACED.

I have a 95 gmc 350 half ton and my check engine light comes on when I am on the highway and goes off when I drive at lower speeds. I am also getting poor gas mileage.

Most likely a bad egr valve. Take a paper clip. Jump pins A to B at the 12 pin diagnostic connector. (Top right pair wires in the connector - or - Lower left pair of wires depending on orientation) Turn key on. Count the "blinks" of the check engine light. All codes are 2-digit. Short blinks are the ones digit and long blinks are the tens digit. EACH CODE REPEATS 3 TIMES AND THE GOES TO THE NEXT CODE SET. You will get code "12" first..."b l i n k- blink-blink" It will repeat 3 times. I bet the next code will be "32" EGR system malfunction

1998 Chevy Truck 1/2 ton 350 engine. Trouble codes P0404, P0405 and P1404. I replaced the EGR valve. Now I get t/c P0404 and P0405. Now what should I check?

404 is exhaust gas recirculation circuit, and 405 is exhaust gas recirculation sensor circuit low. EGR sensor or ground?

RAV 96 VSV

HI.....
The problem on your Vehicle related with the VSV.
VSV . VACCUM SWITCH VALVE..

But the problem is you have 3 VSV On your car.
And all of 3 affect the Emission or smog TEST.

1---- EGR VACCUM SWITCH VALVE
2-- EVAP VACCUM SWITCH VALVE
3---- VAPOR PRESSURE SENSOR VACCUM SWITCH VALVE..

All are located on Left side of Engine compartment.
the EGR VSV on left side of the angine.

Are a Small selenoid with 2 small hoses and one connector of 2 wires.

Ok.. But I recomend get the Vehicle SCANNED for get the right codes.
You can go to some autoparts, Advance, Autozone, Napa, Pepboy's,
They scan your vehicle with no charge , is just a complementary service.
With the Codes you will FIX or REPLACE the right part.

OK... I hope this hlep on your problem.
If you need more information I will able to help.
Thank you for use fixa..
