There may be an obstruction in the filler neck, there is known problem with the filler neck on these vehicles, I believe there is a Service Bulletin for the fix.
Your second problem description does not have enough information.

1973 ford f 250 new carb, and gas tank. fuel pump is less than a year old. will not start/run. acts like it is starved for gas.

Hey Dutch, have you tried anything like starting fluid to see if it will run..If it will not run, try removing the fuel line going to the carb..(does this carb have a filter in the inlet fitting???)..once the fuel line is loose.. (BE CAREFUL!) ..try starting the engine and see if fuel is pumped through the line to the carb...if you are not getting gas there.. time to work backwards until you find the problem..(does this engine have the fuel pump mounted on the side of the engine,if yes.. remember the fuel pump has to "pull" the fuel from the tank)..If you are getting fuel TO the carb.. make sure the carb is "taking" the fuel..(inlet filter).if you are getting fuel to the carb,, and it will still NOT RUN..(and won't run using "starting fluid")..its time to start looking for a timed spark..(assuming the engine has compression).. when you have done this, reply back to me on here... thanks... please mark as helpful.. Good luck..

In the morning the truck wont start unless you prime it with starting fluid, after that it starts all day until the next morning why?

Inside the fuel pump is a check valve to keep static fuel pressure in the fuel lines . When they go bad they allow the fuel to drain back into the tank . This can cause the problem your having. An it would also depend on the make ,model an year vehicle you have . The GM vortec engine with CPI fuel injection system ,if the fuel pump is weak you can have the same problem .

Fuel problem

try checking the eec relay and the eec relay. Does this truck have dual tanks. If it does check the selector switch. mine went bad and burned up both relays. If these are not the problem then you will need to check fuel pump. it or they are located in the tank or tanks.

87 chevy 350 tbi will only start if if pour gas in the throddle body then keep it running by pumping the peddle. It seems to starve at higher rpms, and when it does idle the rpm's swing from hig

Sounds like the fuel pump is going bad(or in this case, has gone bad). I suggest that you change the fuel pump and use a fuel cleaner in your gas tank as dirty gas may have caused the problem to begin with.

We have a 1995 jeep grand cherokee limited 4 wheel drive. how do you know when the fuel pump is going bad?

you will notice that your vehicle acts like it is starving for fuel, and sometimes , the engine will even die, and then start back up, a lot of fuel pumps can be saved by people not driving their vehicles with a 1/4 or less amount of gas in the tank, because when the the tank gets very low, the fuel pump has to work harder to pump the gas, and even overheats when trying to pump the low amount of gas to the engine therefore resulting in the fuel pump going out.

Car starts but when i give gas it dies on me

your engine's starving for fuel. your fuel pump may be bad. if your engine starts ok and it only idles fine, the fuel pump pressure may not be correct. the fuel pump pressure should be around 180lbs to the motor.a bad fuel pump can either quit pumping,or it may only pump just enough to start the engine, but not produce enough fuel to run it down the road.the fuel pumps located inside the gas tank under the car. most shops guage the price of removal and replacement of the fuel pump on how much fuels in the gas tank, the more fuel, the heavier the gas tank. a full gas tank can be super heavy and hard to handle under the vehicle. suggest that you call around local shops for a price of replacement fuel pump.also call local parts places such as auto zone or advance auto parts for prices of the fuel pump, that way you can guage the price of the pump against the labor the shops charge you. hope this helps and thank you for choosing fixya.com

Gas pump keeps tripping off often

you have a bad charcoal canister. Go underneath the left rear of the car, pull the big hose off the charcoal canister, and if charcoal come out of the hose, replace the canister. This is a common problem w/Hyundai and Kia.

In morning dont start on the first but on the second it does 01 gmc jimmy

The most likely cause of this is that the fuel pump pressure check valve is defective and allowing the fuel to bleed back to the fuel tank, then the system must purge before the engine starts, this usually takes a couple of cranking tries. The check valve is built into the fuel pump outlet port, so the pump must be replaced to correct this. to confirm this problem have a shop run run a fuel pressure bleed down test or buy a gage and do it yourself, the test port is on the top of the engine, it looks like a large tire fill valve

Engine starves for fuel after running about 50 miles or so...

Has Neon do same, I ran fuel at low level, on hot day, ran engine until it started to act up & threw a fuel pressure gauge on it. Was at approx 5 psi. Cold next morning, 48-50 psi. Always hot day about 30-40 miles into work in morning, o.k. Sit in hot sun all day & would happen 3-4 times on way home. Sit and let cool, 20 minutes or so & go again for a while. Cool day, no problem. Change pump I would.
