How to fix van with no spark on 1997 ford areo star van 3.0 liter

Honstly what you need is a starting point dosen't realy matter what kind of vehicle or engine you have . You say you have no spark. Pull the coil wire off the distubtor if its not a coil pack set up so if you have adistubitor cap this is the wire in the center of the cap . Have someone crank the engine over while your holding the main wire about 1/2 inch from where it plugs into on the cap you might want to ware a rubber glove . Do you see a spark . If not then the problem must be before the plugs wires or distuibor cap and must be in the electronic ignition or before that .On the other hand if you do see a spark and it should be kind of a blue spark and make a snap noise thgen the power is getting to the cap and the problem must lie beyony this point and be related to the cap or rotor plug wires or the a bad plug . At any rate you will have to think about and test it if you can do it you will save lots of money

I have a 1994 chevy caprice classic. i know gas has went up, but my car is sucking up gas extremly bad. i already changed the fuel filter and fuel pump and the distubtor and cap, still same problem. what...

You did not say which engine you have. If it is the 5.7L V8, your only going to get12 or 13 mpg. You might try a new set of spark plugs and a new air filter. I put the E3 plugs in my 4.3 GMC and the mileage jumped dramatically. They are a little pricey, but what isn't these days?

I took of*** my spark plug wires working on my small block 350 pickup and I don't remember the the firing order to put the new wires back on. Is there a diagram anywhere or is it even that difficult to...

Next time number each lead before you remove it and no. the dissy cap as well

The firing order, which should be cast into the intake manifold, for the chevy small block V8 is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2. The firing order is the numerical sequence in which the spark plugs are fired. The insertion position of each spark plug wire around the circumference of the distributor cap can be found according to a clock face. The insertion sequence determines the firing order. The firing order is followed clockwise around the distributor cap starting from the 6:30 position with the 6:30 position being the number one cylinder spark plug wire.
On classic chevy small block engines that use ignition breaker points instead of electronic ignitions, the number one cylinder is the one immediately clockwise of the small metal sash cover on the distributor cap. The firing order starts here. There is no sash cover on the distributor cap for GM HEI electronic ignitions, and the firing order is the same, but starting at the 5:30 position.
The firing order makes sense if you know how the cylinders are numbered. The number one cylinder is the front most on the drivers side and 2 being the front most on the passenger side. From front to back, the cylinders are odd numbered on the drivers side, and even numbered on the passenger side.
See the diagram; Click to open a printable larger image in a new window. The firing order starts with the number one cylinder. We would connect the number one spark plug wire to the distributor cap terminal in the 6:30 position. distributor.pngSince the next cylinder in the firing order is 8 (passenger side rear), we connect the number 8 spark plug wire to the next distributor cap terminal (approximately 7:30 position) in the clockwise direction from number one. You need to be sure you continue the firing order in the clockwise direction around the chevy small block distributor cap from the last installed spark plug wire. Setting the rest of the firing order is just a matter of repetition. Be sure to count the spark plugs from front to back on each side of the motor to identify the correct cylinder number in the firing order.

Change plugs and wire and engine will not acclerate. This is a built 350 short block chevy with pro charger.

350 Chevy engine in what? 1990 Corvette? Who built it, did you?

Sounds as though you have plug wires wrong.
Firing order is 1-8-4-3-6-5-7-2

Distributor Ignition System:
Distributor rotates Clockwise. (Rotor)
Find Number 1 tower on distributor cap, go Clockwise with Firing Order.

Distributorless Ignition System:
VIEWING the engine from the Front of the car.

Spark plug wire connections along the back, starting from Left side going to Right side;
2-3-7-4

Spark plug wire connection towards the Front of the engine;
6-1-5-8

(To guess I would say you have 5 and 7 wires switched)

Left side cylinder order is 1-3-5-7, going from front to back.
Drivers side is Left side.
Right side cylinder order is 2-4-6-8, going from front to back.

1999 chevy 350 runs rough at idle. #4cyl misfire. light gray build up on spark plug. compression good 180.

You either have a bad spark plug wire or coil pack. The light gray color on plug is normal.

Chevy 350 no spark I have changed the coil, cap, and rotor. Still no spark. I also changed the plugs and wires about 3 months ago

Check the distributor module (ICM), it may have gone bad and needs to be replaced. It's around $40.00 and it's under the rotor in the distributor assembly. Check the red lead wire to the HEI for voltage, there should be 12 volts. It common for the ICM to fail on the HEI system and if you go to Auto Zone, they can give you the step by step instructions to replace the ICM. Good luck and keep me posted, be glad to help.

Timing on a 350 chey engine

take out number 1 spark plug and put your finger as to block the hole ,have a friend bump the starter till you feel air rush out real fast / called the compression stroke when it does stop and look down the top center for timing marks on the pulley and line them up on the timing cover then place the distributor in place as so the rotor is pointing at the #1 piston location, basically the dr. front corner and start there, timing order is 1..8..4..3..6..5..7..2.. now if you get all these in right 1..3..5..7 are on the drivers side front to back and 2..4..6..8 on the passengers bank front to back and the distributor turns clockwise .good luck hope this helps you.
