HI, sorry to tell you this but the DTC P1744 is being set do to excessive slipping in the transmission so coolant wont help this. The low coolant is probably due to a crack int he expansion tank where you add coolant. I would recommend stopping at a local transmission shop and let them tell you your options. Good luck

Does this engine have a cold start mechanism? I would check that out since it appears to be the source of the problem.

We have a 1999 Pontiac Montana with an unknown trouble code.

P1483=engine cooling system performance
Are you adding coolant each time this light comes on in the coolant reservoir?
if so,you need to find where it is leaking out,

Service engine soon light on a 1996 Ford taurus. I just had the brake line replaced 2 weeks ago because it had completely rusted out

when this light comes on it has nothing to do with the brakes it is an engine diagnostic faluire you must use an odb2 reader to read the codes see what the problem is and or reset the light! good luck!

Had to replace waterpump 3 times with in a year and a half. can some one tell me whats going on with my car. its a ford taurus 1999 gl 3.0 L V6 ENG LIGHT IS ON LOOKS CODE P1744 P1401 P1000 COULD THAT HAVE...

Make sure you change the thermostat when changing the water pump. The only way a pump goes bad is if the coolant is not going through it or there's not enough of it in the system. Make sure you fill up with coolant before starting the car. Next start the car turn on heater and keep adding coolant until full. Also try not to buy parts made in China or any other 3 world country cause the quality is very poor. Request something made in America.

Trouble code P1744

Torque Converter Clutch System Stuck in Off Position. I would clear that one and see if it comes back. You would be ok to get a smog test done with this code. Its a transmission code. If it does come back I would take it to a transmission shop and have it checked out further. Thanks for using FixYa!

Engine service light / 4 codes read description below

P1744 is probably the TC going on the way out. :(

P 340 is probably the sensor itself. Don't get the Dorman one if it is the OHV motor.

P 401 is probably a bad DPF EGR sensor.
