Question about Dodge Intrepid

1 Answer

I have a 2001 chrysler intrepid and occasionally the car will not start. i have replaced the battery, but the condition still persists. there is a small red "box" directly in front of the air cleaner assembly. when i tap this box, the car seems to start. is this the starter relay? the positive batt. cable goes to that box. could this be the cause of my problem?

HI, that little red box should have a cable coming out of both sides of it it is a junction and yes if the cables are corroded there it can cause this problem. YOU starter relay is located in the fuse box on the drivers side engine compartment it should be marked in the lid of the box. good luck

Why does my 1998 sebring idle fine but sputter badly under load.

Does it use spark plug wires or individual ignition coils for the each plug?. My 98 intrepid uses coils and occasionally I have to change them out cause it would start to miss when normal temperature was achieved. If it uses wires, try replacing them, along with the spark plugs.

2001 Chrysler Town & Country. When turn key to start nothing happ

Two things to try, If you have a second origional key try that first. If the problem still persists, you will need to take the vehicle to a reputable garage to have the problem diagnosed. You could have a bad key and the theft deterent system is causing the problem or it could be a bad ignition switch or start relay.

The oil light comes on at low rpms but goes off when engine reaches 1500 rpm on a 2002 Dodge intrepid

I would get to a Dodge dealer as quickly as possible.

As I recall, these years in the Chrysler products were very prone to a condition called "oil sludging." This can lead to a seized engine, which can lead to a $3,000-4,000 engine replacement. The oil light might indicate low oil pressure, which could be related to plugged oil passages as a consequence of the sludging.

Dodge has paid for replacement engines for a lot of cars from the early 2000's; however, the car owner has to be persistent.

Check Google for "Chrysler engine oil sludging." You will get a real education on the subject.

No start condition

It sounds as if it could be the neutral safety switch. have you tried to start it in neutral instead of park?? If it starts in neutral just have the neutral safety switch replaced. I hope this helps.

Wont start

Check the condition of your battery. You may have a battery going bad. The 300, Sebring, Intrepid, and most of the intermediate sized Chrysler cars do wierd stuff like the dash lights going crazy. Try jump starting it.
