If it is a late model 4 cylinder engine then the filter may be in part of the engine block this located on the driver front side of the engine, it has a black plastic cover which screws off and the filter is a paper element that snaps on the cap and goes inside

Where is the oil filter located on a mercury milan and what filter is it is it a paper filter or a normal once??

All oil filters are under all vehicle motors

If you get under there you can't miss it

The filter will only be one size, one internal
construction,regardless of vehicle make,
or filter brand.

Almost all filters screw one and will require
a cup of the correct metric size for your filter.

Look on Wix Filters for your filter
Cheaper than a dealer and about the best you can
buy other than Hastings.

Changing the oil?

Hi, you have to take the screw out of the oil pan and let it drain... The oil pan in on the underside of the vehicle about middleways back toward the back of the vehicle.

The oil filter is also accessable from under the vehicle, but it's a tight squeeze with out one of those nifty wrenches. After it drains, change the filter, put the screw back in.

You probably know the access panel for the oil is under the driver's seat, then pour your oil in. It will take 5 quarts of oil.
Take care

Where is the oil filter?

on most vehicles the oil filter is can shaped and mounted on the engine block, and will be found from under neath of the vehicle to change the oil 1 jack the front of the vehicle and secure it on stands 2 place a collection pan under the vehicle (large enough to hold the vehicles oil capacity) 3 remove the plug on the bottom of the oil pan to allow oil to drain 4 use an oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter (it will contain oil as well) 5 allow several minutes for oil to drain, the longer the better 6 replace the plug 7 pour some oil into the new filter, and oil the rubber gasket on the new filter 8 replace the filter by hand (do not use filter wrench to tighten) 9 tighten the new filter by hand to one full turn after the gasket touches the engine and no tighter 10 refill from the top of the engine to vehicles oil capacity with recommende weigth of oil note. the engines capacity and the engines capacity with filter differ for the filter will hold oil as well 11 lower the vehicle from jack stands change every 3000 miles when driving in town change every 5000 miles when driving on highway

Changing the oil

Buy four quarts of oil, oil filter, you'll need couple sockets, oil pan, jack stands, hoist, and strap wrench.

(1) Park vehicle on flat surface.

(2) Open hood and unscrew oil filler cap.

(3) Take oil pan and yourself under vehicle and unscrew drain plug to allow old oil to drain out of vehicle.

(4) As oil is draining from vehicle, go ahead and prepare new oil filter by applying some oil to the rubber "O" ring on new filter. Thats therubber ring on the filter that butts up against the block when thefilter is screwed and tightened into place.

(5) Now that the new filter is ready to be used go ahead and put drainplug back into vehicle oil pan at this point all old oil should havebeen drained out.

(6) Go ahead and use oil filter wrench to take off old oil filter, youmay be able to use your bare hands to take this off as these arejust hand tightened let old oil drain from oil filter housing for a fewminutes. Wipe area clean with a rag before putting new filter on. Nowyou can install new oil filter remember to hand tighten new filter onlyyou won't need to use oil filter wrench to tighten oil filter

7) Now you can add new oil by pouring it into the same place you took off the oil filler cap.

(8) After pouring in oil check oil dipstick to make sure you havepoured the proper amount, this is usually done by making sure new oilis at the top of of the crossed section that is at the bottom of thedip stick.

Oil filter location

ok on that vehicle it is under the front skid plate , there is either a hole in it showing you the filter is there, if there is not a hole there then you have to take the skid plate off using a 10mm socket, and the filter is right there.... ALL VAHICLES HAVE OIL FILTERS, either the can type, or a paper filter under a round cap with a plastic nut on top of it... that other guy needs to learn about vehicles before trying to help someone cause he doesn't know the right stuff...

Cant find the oil filter

the oil filter is located under the vehicle usually on the engine block towards the front of the vehicle, sometimes they can be on the rear of the engine block as well. if you take a look under the car and look up into the engine bay you will find it! you need to jack the front end up and make sure you have the car on jackstands with the parking brake on. in case you didn't know, you also have to remove the drain plug and let the old oil out. drain plug is located on the oil pan. any other questions, just ask!
