Question about 2003 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

Open Question

I have a 2003 2500HD chevrolet pickup. 6.0 litre gas engine. One of the knock sensors was faulty. I changed both knock sensors while I had the intake manifold off. After clearing the code, half a day later the engine light comes on again. I hooked the code reader up again, and it says - knock sensor problem (same as before). Any ideas of what else would be causing this reading????? Randy

SOURCE: O2 sensor problem

I have a 97 gmc sierra .This truck is the same as the chevy ok.Its a 350 5.7 liter 4x4 Z71.I took it to auto zone which was my first mistake. They put it the scanner and said bad O2 sensor.Ok so which one is it i said. They dont know.Well there four (4) O2 sensors in this truck i hope you know that.I had to replace all four of them before i had to take it to a real shop.It seems the fuel pump i replaced a week earlier with an auto zone fuel pump was bad.Ive changed my feul pump 4 times now and have 235000 miles on still running. You need to get your fuel pressure checked. It should be 65 psi to start it and 55 psi to run it.If the pressures are good it could be a different O2 sensor or maybe the mass air flow senor. My last option would be the fuel pressure regulator because it seems to be a waste of time and money.I would get that fuel pressue checked first.Good luck.

you can pull the boat no problem. as putting in a 6.2 for the 454 you will need to change wire harness inside and out..im the brake booster...... the gear ratio in the rear ends ..fuel pump ..im guessing you have a truck you will be using for parts.. if you are doing for fuel mileage you will be disappointed you will only gain a couple of mpg .. hopes this helps

SOURCE: i have a 3500 chevrolet

The egr valve is pluged up from carbon build up and it quit functioning. take it off clean it up, and also inside of intake with a screwdriver and shop vac. and then purchase a new gasget thats like a screen, they sell them at autozone and put it back on. the screen gasget is for any chunk that you missed in intake and trys to plug up the egr valve again.

SOURCE: Service engine code indicates EGR valve.

You could have a restriction in the egr ports. remove the valve. Plug the holes, start engine. 1 hole will be blowing out exhaust, the other will have large vacuum.

2000 silverado knock sensor issue

I think it not real probable that the cause of your knock sensor code is the result of bad gas. However, I suppose it IS possible. Most knock sensor codes are caused by engine mechanical problems like bad pully bearings, loose timing chains, broken valve springs, collapsed valve lifters, etc. that would cause a "knocking" or "tapping" in the engine.

The next most probable cause would be damaged knock sensor wiring. I have fixed many that have had damage from rodents getting into the engine compartment and chewing on the wires. Depending on which engine your Silverado is equipped with, the knock sensor could be mounted between the cylinder heads in the valley under the intake manifold. Mice like it under there.

Then again, it all depends on WHAT KIND of knock sensor code you are getting. For 2000 Silverado there are 3 possible knock sensor codes: P0325, P0327, P0332. The diagnostics (and possible causes) change depending on which code you have.

There are two knock sensors on your engine, and they are underneath the intake manifold. You will have to remove the intake to get to the sensors.

Cant find where the knock sensor is located on a 2006 Honda Accord ex 6 cyl is?

I believe it is located under intake runner on passenger side like the 6 in an.MDX. It has to attach to the engine block to pickup vibrations from engine knock.

2003 GMC Sierra Knock sensor and oil pressure??

the knock sensors are located below the intake plenum,or,upper intake manifold as some call it, they screw into the lower intake, the front one is sensor 1, the rear is sensor 2. it is wise to change both if you have some miles.since you are going to be buying a gasket set to do this job.the sensors are cheaper than the gaskets.

On a 6 cylinder, the knock sensor is located under the intake manifold, on the inside edge of the cylinder block. You must remove the entire intake manifold assembly to access the knock sensor. If you are replacing it, it would be very advisable to replace the sensor AND the extension wire from it to the main harness. I have observed that the wire extensions become brittle over time, and they fail with regularity.
