COST OF OIL CHANGE, DISTRIBUTOR CAP, SPARK PLUGS AND STARTER

oil change = 39.95 w/coupon (jiffy lube) +10 for filter

starter cost= 105$ plus an 1.5 hr labor to install + 15$ core charge
cap/wires/plugs = 110$ plus hour of labor to install
labor is typically 90 to 110 an hour

yes cars are expensive to maintain

its allways a good idea for one to develop a trusting relationship with there autos mechanic , if you don't feel you can trust them you need to find one that you can , ask questions , ask to see old parts , any mechanic that's honest/good in his work will show you those parts and even explain what they do

2007 ford edge engine missing they say coil pack and cost could be $1700.00. Is this possible?

it depends on how many coils are bad. pep boys auto parts lists them @ $301.99 each, for your vehicle, there will be a bit of a markup on the cost of the part, that is normal.
then there is the labor, job should take between 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours x labor per hour.
when I had mine replaced only the ones that needed to be replaced were done.
I took this from another site:
An ignition coil is a compact electrical transformer that boosts the 12-volt current from the battery into the high voltage (15,000-20,000 volts or more) needed to start a car. Typically there is one ignition coil for each spark plug, either sitting on top of each spark plug (eliminating the need for spark plug wires) or physically connected together as a coil pack that is installed and replaced as a single unit. Symptoms of a bad coil pack include misfires, poor fuel consumption or loss of power -- although these can be caused by other factors. Typical costs:
  • An ignition coil typically costs $70-$375 or more depending on the make and model of vehicle, if it is a single coil or a coil pack, and whether the part is made by the vehicle manufacturer (called OEM parts, and typically more expensive) or an aftermarket product from a company other than the vehicle manufacturer.
  • For example, AutoZone[1] offers an aftermarket ignition coil for a 2008 Ford Focus for $103; FordParts.com[2] offers ignition coils for the same vehicle for $72-$159. Replacing an ignition coil can be a relatively straightforward do-it-yourself project. AutoMD provides how-to instructions[3] , and estimates it as a moderately complex project that takes about an hour.
  • Professional installation typically takes 0.5-1.5 hours, depending on the vehicle, at $50-$120 an hour (depending on whether the work is done at an independent or chain repair shop, or at a dealership, which is typically more expensive). This brings total costs to $100-$550 or more.
  • For example, RepairPal.com[4] estimates replacing a single ignition coil on a 2008 Ford Focus costs about $37-$49 for labor and $123-$144 for parts, making a total cost of about $160-$193; for a 2008 Dodge Ram 1500 truck the estimate is about $102-$135 for labor and $74-$120 parts, or $176-$255 total; for a 2008 Toyota Camry it's $74-$98 labor and $102-$210 parts, with a total of $176-$308.

How much does it cost to have spark plugs and wires put in acura 2.3cl 2002

Well, now.
Spark plugs generally run from 3 - 10 dollars each, and spark plug wires run from 30 - 130 a set.
Now I'll do some estimating:
If you have a V-6 motor, that is 6 X 6 = $ 36 plugs and $100 wires = $136 + tax.
However, garages and shops get labor from $ 30-100 dollars to do this.
So, $ 136 parts plus $ 70 labor = $ 206 + tax.
Next thing to remember:
1) Spark Plugs today are good for 100,000 miles a set.
2) Spark plug wires can easily last 10 years.
3) and most important is - tune -up shops are in business to sell you plugs and wires whether you need them or not. They HAVE to sell them to stay in business.

It took them most of the day, and the labor was $316, and the parts (6 m/craft spark plugs, 6 m/craft plug wire sets, air filter, fuel filter, ignition coil and intake plenum gaskets) were $302. They...

Labor in a good shop is run by time out of the Chilton's labor guide. Its a guide line for how long a job should take a certified mechanic. From the total cost, the labor looks about right to me. I don't know the make or model of your car, and am not sure what the book will say. In my option, I would say it looks right to me for labor. As for parts, that I can not answer. Every shop has a mark-up to what the parts cost them. Depending on the make and model, some parts get really costly. As for the labor, I think you got a great deal. Hope this helps.

How much to replace spark plugs

Depending on what type of engine your car has ( 4cyl or 6cyl), it can be anything between $70-$80, they charge you for good spark plugs so make sure they install good ones, spark plugs are from $1 to $6, most of the cost goes for labor which they will charge you for an hour ( $40-$50 labor cost). Hope it helps and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

2000 VW Passat Problems: 1. How much should it cost me to replace my "timing belt"??? Parts and Labor??? 2. How much should it cost me to replace my "spark plugs"??? Parts & Labor ??? 3. My LED lights on...

1. you don't have a timing belt. its a timing chain. you are looking at the serpentine belt. still expensive but it will need replacement. do not drive it very far if the belt breaks while driving.
2. Spark plugs are easy, only change at 100k. if you are not proficient with cars and doing it yourself then it will be costly.
3. that happens to all vw and audi's. no way around it. trust me i have same car and audi a6. happens all the time.
4. look around on internet.

depends on your financila situation. this is a good car to drive and just destroy. reselling these is not easy. too many things break. its not a honda.

Parts and labor cost

I had a local for dealer look at my 2005 Crown Vic due to sevice engine light coming on. Was told "coil asy" on two spark plugs was bad & need to be replaced. Being a loyal customer of this dealership I OK'd the repair. The cost were $171.00 for coil asy & $185.16 for two spark plugs. Was I ripped off or what?
