If it is getting power to the starter when You are Not jumping it Then the starter ie going out.
Have a test light on the pos cable where it conects to the starter and have someone turn the key to the start position and the light should light up.If not test the starter silonoid.

I have a 93 pathfinder SE 4X4 automatic transmission that had full power, new starter and battery. Sometimes it will start and sometimes not. By passed starter relay by adding push button start and it started 6-8 times then nothing. I finally figured out that it was the neutral safety or inhibitor switch on the 4 wheel drive shifter. Just an idea..good luck

2002 GMC Envoy, i put the key in ignition and vehicle will not start sometimes and other times is starts fine. we have checked the starter, battery and battery connections, all fine. Changed the starter...

Ignition switch and neutral safety switch. Next time it happens wiggle thekeys in the ignition switch and try to restart. If it starts its probably the ignition switch. Then locate neutral safety switch on brake pedal and put meter on B+ wire from switch to starter relay and see if you get B+ on the would -be- crank. Next locate B+ wire from starter relay to starter hook a meter to it and see if you get B+ on the would -be crank.
Where ever B+ is missing is your problem.

Wont turn over

check the conections of the wires at the starter and silonoid disconect battery first as to not short anything out by bumping the engine wich is grounded if all conections are good then the bendex in the silonoid is not engaging all the way to operate the starter or the broshes in the starter ar woren out eather way just replace the starter a new one comes with the silonoid on it and they are only about 45-65 bucks at schucks and have a 1 year warranty. i dont recomend just replacing the silonoid on the starter cause adventuly you will have to replace the starter any ways. or if you are on a budget then u can remove the silonoid from the starter and sand the bendex in the silonoid with some fine grit sand paper and use air to blow any debres out of it and reinstall silonoid and it will get u by for a short time.

Starter won't turn over (no starting noise)

i think the battery is trash, and you could have killed the silonoid on teh starter as well. use a volt meter to trace where your getting power oand if your gettting power to the starter, not the main power but the ignition wire on it.

if you are the starter is bad, if your getting pnly some power there the battery is mor likely the problem.

It is also so easy to kill these systems these days, if you jumped it and hit the battery the wrong way or shorted it out, could be more then just a starter n battery.

make sure you test teh igniton side of the starter when someone is trying to start it. the cheapest trick in the book is tap it with a hammer, sometimes they get stuck or froze when they are going bad, i have seen that work more time then not

good luck and hope i could help
