EGR stands for Exhaust Gas Recirculation- It allows gases from the exhaust to mix with the intake to allow NOx gases to not form at high temperatures.

Problems with it include being plugged, or open or not holding vacuum, causing a vacuum leak.

EGR -Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve.
This is a valve mounted somewhere on the engines intake manifold. Its function is to let exhaust gases back into the intake to aid in fuel burning. This can mess up your emissions if it is not working properly! Good luck!

My 1997 Acura 3.2TL did not pass emissions. Tracked it down to the silenoid. Can't find a solenoid separate from the EGR valve which tested to be just fine? Is there any parts companies, stores,...

Are you talking about the EGR Vacuum Control Solenoid? or are you talking about the EGR Lift Sensor mounted on top of the EGR valve?

The lift sensor is only serviced with the valve. This is because the sensor is tuned to each valve. You cannoteven exchange them from another vehicle and make them work properly. You must change the entire valve assembly.

Now, if you are talking about the EGR Vacuum Control Solenoid (You did say solenoid several times) you can only get the solenoid from the dealer. I have tried many times to find them in the aftermarket with no luck. The solenoids are not very expensive at the dealer - about $40.

If you are talking to aftermarket places about the Solenoid, they are quoting you a price for the EGR Valve Assembly, not because that is the part you need, but because it is the only part of the EGR system that they have a listing for. (Most of the counterpersons have no clue that there is a difference)

Where do I find the EGR valve on a 1995 subaru Legacy 250T automatic

  1. Detach the vacuum hose from the EGR valve.
  2. Remove the two nuts which secure the EGR valve to the intake manifold assembly.
  3. Remove the valve and gasket from the manifold.
  4. Clean all gasket material from both mating surfaces.
  5. Check the vacuum hose for deterioration and replace as necessary.

To install:

  1. Inspect the exhaust gas passages in the intake manifold and clean as necessary. Clean the EGR valve assembly as necessary.
  2. Using a new gasket, install the EGR valve.
  3. Tighten the EGR valve securing nuts to 17-19 ft. lbs. (22-25 Nm).
  4. Install the hose on the EGR valve.f9ec12f.gif

Where is the egr valve on a 2005 dodge 1500 5.7L

The electronic EGR valve and solenoid assembly (3) is attached to the front of the right cylinder head (1). An exhaust gas routing tube connects the EGR valve to the intake manifold.

Disconnect electrical connector (1) from EGR solenoid (2). Remove two bolts (3) connecting EGR tube (4) to valve assembly. Remove gasket located between EGR tube flange and EGR valve assembly.

Remove two mounting bolts (2). Separate valve assembly (3) from cylinder head (1). Remove and discard metal gasket located between cylinder head and valve assembly.
The new EGR valve will come with a new metal gasket. You can reuse the smaller gasket for the metal pipe going to the egr valve as long as its not damaged.

TY for using Fixya; remember rated this post.
