Yes, All the years of the ZX2 utilize the same engine. 1998-2003 are all the same except for ECU programing and the MAF wiring. You should not have a problem.

Go to this site for a free download of the original owners manual. The stop light fuse info is on page 123. If your fuse is ok, check the stop light switch to see if it is the problem.

Signs transmission going out

There is an impact sensor which kills the power to the fuel pump. It has a reset button and would be behind the front floor kick panels or in the back cargo area.

The switch is called an Inertia switch and when you hit a car or use an impact wrench the vibrations can trip the sensor.

My 2001 Ford Escort ZX2 keeps getting water in it; what could be causing it?

If it has a sun roof, check it for leaks or there are drain tubes coming off of the sunroof that drain water from the roof. If the drain tubes are blocked the water could come inside. If the inside headliner has stains on it, they may be water stains which tells of a leak.

I recently put a new head unit in my 2002 ford escort zx2.. now dash lights (speedometer and what not), reverse lights, and my shifter lights wont work at all.? any ideas

Probably cut or pulled something out of place when you installed the new head unit. I would pull it out and do a visual inspection to see if there are any damaged wires or if something came unplugged.

My 2002 ZX2 Automatic's sifter doesn't want to shift out of park. Once I get it out of park it drives fine. Any suggestions?

The park lock-out solenoid is bad. It locks the shifter in park until you depress the brake pedal. You can remove the console and replace this solenoid or defeat it with a zip-tie.

I am haveing intermitting failure of a speedometer in a 01 ford zx2 can you help

I imagine it's the speed sensor that is usually in the transmission. Not too hard of a fix. Otherwise its a bad connection, which could be fun to find. Try changing the speed sensor. If that doesnt fix it, take the new one back and put the old back in. If that doesn't fix it, then there is a problem with a connection somewhere. Probably in the dash.

ZX2. Why doesn't sunroof won't close tightly?

There may be foreign matter in the tracks causing the sunroof to bind at the final seating point.
