Hi, I recently changed my rear brake shoes and got the drums turned but they are making a thump thump thump sound when I press on the brakes, what could be causing this. 2001 Mazda 626 Lx 2.0L L4

Worn brake hardware, the most common cause is a bad cut on the drums. The shoes might not be riding evenly on the drums or touching rust.

WHAT IS CAUSING THIS SQUEALING NOISE IN MY CAR?

Sounds like a dragging brake pad. There is an adhesive that can be applied between the calipers and the pads. Or it may be time for a rear end brake change.

Hi, On my 2001 X-Type, I hear a squealing commin

You have a bad rear hub bearing. It at times starts as a low humming sound, then will increase to a screeching sound..you can jack the car up and have both rear wheels off the ground palce your hands at 12 and 6 pm and try to check for loseness.also if you have a creeper, just to eliminate a bad carrier bearing you can check the axle near the differential by checking it for play also. But I am leaning very much towrds the hub bearing.I have changed several of these...

After driving my 2008 t&c for about 10 minutes (city) squealing from right rear occurs. Sounds like metal on metal. Depressing brakes makes sound go away. Pads appear to be fine.

because your rear pads are locked on when you use the parking brake, the squeel is dust on the rotors/pads,so when you press pedal, dust goes,
You did put anti squeel grease on the back of the pads when you replaced them, didnt you???SO simple.

Your rear brake pads are most likely worn to the wear indicator which can make a high pitch squealing noise. It is very common that it will squeal when backing up, but not when applying the brakes. 50,000 miles is about the average life for rear brake pads on your car.
