Question about Toyota Tacoma

1 Answer

2000 Tacoma has run fine since it was new. However, it will not start this afternoon after starting and running numerous times all day. When I turn the key I can hear the clicking but the motor doesn't turn over, or even try to turn over.

You need to replace the contacts in the starter solenoid. If you can find a good honest repair shop, they can replace them for you. Most places will want to sell you a new starter, but to replace the contacts will be much cheaper.

Can you jumper the fuel pump and make it start and continue to run ?
Have you checked to see if you are getting spark when it won't start ?
Could be a relay or coil, ignition module, or other component.

I have a 2000 BMW 740 i. New battery. Went to start it (was running fine all day), and nothing. Jumped it and started. Chugged a couple times but then ran fine. Got home 45 minutes later. turned off...

check the alternator and wiring to battery. if belt is ok. then when car is off, voltage at battery should be at least 12.6 or better. when it is running, at battery should be at least 14.1 to 14.7. jump start car, try this, with car running, remove negative battery cable car should still run, if alternator is ok. if it quits when taking cable off,of battery. its the alternator thats bad. but if it run ok with cable off. then its your battery.

2000 toyota tacoma 2.4l wont start when cold

clogged injectors you need to put cleaner in the fuel to help get dirt and grit out of them some times (every 3 months).
I am assuming you are saying it will turn over but not fire and run when cold?

Cold starting problem

this is caused by the fuel pump pressure check valve, when this valve fails the gas drains out of the lines and filter and back to the fuel tank, then when u start the pump has to pump the fuel through the lines and filter and then the air has to be purged out of the system by the injectors, this all takes time, result long crank times and numerous start stall. The pressure check valve is part of the fuel pump, the pump is in the fuel tank.
