Question about 1994 Dodge Dakota Club Cab

1 Answer

I need a picture of how my windshield wipers are supposed to fit underneath the cowel. The bushings broke off and I'm not sure if I will need C-clips to hold on the bushings.

I can hear the motor running on the wipers but they won't move

You may have to access the wiper transmission . some times the plastic cup breaks or comes off of the wiper motor arm . they use a press fit on a cup and ball socket to attach the wiper transmission to the wiper motor there is a metal arm bolted to the wiper motor with this ball on it . The wiper transmisson is located under the front cowel i am not sure if you can look through the cowel vents to see the wiper transmission or not . I belive NAPA can and does stock some of these wiper transmission if the ball and socket are damaged .

WIPERS WILL NOT MOVE. CHECKED FUSE-IT'S GOOD. CAN HEAR MOTOR KICK IN,WIPER ARMS WILL NOT MOVE.

sounds like you broke it underneath where the wipers arms hook up there is a plastic bushing under there and they **** all it takes is the wipers to be frozen to the windshield and it could break there may be a cover at the bottom of the windshield on the outside of the car may come off with screws and clips or both check under there sometimes your lucky and you can put it back on

Windshield wiper not moving.motor works.wiper was iced up,turned them on and they started to move then popped.wiper motor works and wipers seem to move a little.

open the hood and at the base of the wiper arm is a little balck cap, remove this cap and under it is a nut. this nut holds the wiper arm tight onto a spline. check to see if the nut has backed off or needs to be tightened. if not remove the nut and take off the wipers, the black cowel (at the bottom of the windshield) is held on with three plugs.(one in the middle and one on each end.) and one large plug below the passanger wiper blade. the wiper assembly and motor is under this cowel.
hope this helps

Front windshield wipers are crashing into each other

Yes you can adjust them yourself. First you need to check that the wiper arms are not bent. If not, remove the cap at the wiper arm base, under it u will find a nut, remove this nut. you should now be able to remove the wiper arm. (it is comon for caravan wiper arms to be corroded on. If the arm dosen't come off, you may need to heat up the wiper arm with a propane torch. be careful not to melt the plastic cowel under the arm. OR you can use a wiper puller or a battery puller. do not force it, you can break the arm, DO NOT PRY AGAINST THE COWEL OR WINDSHIELD.
Once both arms are off, turn your van on and turn the wipers on. watch the wiper posts, turn the wipers off and watch the wiper posts return and stop in the "parked" position. Turn the van off. Install the passanger wiper arm first, it is positioned closest to the bottom an inch or two above the black cowel. It should be parrallel to the cowel. next install the drivers side wiper arm. it is positioned about 4 inches above the passanger wiper. again running parrallel to the cowel and passanger wiper. tighten the lock nuts down (do not over tighten) wet down your windshield with glass cleaner or windshield washer fluid and test wipers. If they still hit you can lower the passanger one a little or raise the drivers one a little (careful you don't raise the drivers one too much or it will 'jump' off the windshield at the top of the wipe).
good luck, hope this helps.

Front Window Wipers will not move

first, make sure thay are not stuck to the windshield, free up the wiper blade and try again. if it still does not work one of two things, the nut has come lose on the wiper arm or a arm or knuckle in the motor assembly is bent or broken. to remove the wiper arm, remove the round plactic cap and remove the nut. be careful removing the wiper they rust on and can break easily, if it won't come off use a wiper puller ( battery puller will also work), you can also use a propane tourch to heat it up. the cowel is held on with torex screws, there is one in each corner and some more in between the fins in the cowel, there is also two plastic phillips screws one in each corner, do not unscrew but turn them 90 degrees either way to release. there also may or may not be 4 wingnuts. under the hood on the cowel. once the cowel is removed you will see the wiper motor assembly. check all the arms and knuckle for damage. hope this helps.

How do you replace the windshield wiper motor?

Remove the cowel, the black plastic that's under your wipers, remove your wiper arms. That will give you access to the wiper assembly, normally held in by 3 bolts. depending on the modle, you may have to remove the assembly to remove the motor. remove assembly, make sure eletric connection is unplugged. once out, it should be 3 or 4 bolts to swap out motor.
