Question about 2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

1 Answer

My 79 year old father was driving through Winston-Salem in his 2002 Olds Intrigue. HE had transmission problems and was told he needed a new transmission at a cost of $4200. Don't know too many details right now(don't want him to know I'm worried about hin getting ripped off) but could a new transmission possibly cost that much? Why wouldn't they rebuild? This is a AAA shop.Any opinions on whether or not I should be concerned would be appreciated.

2002 Olds Intrigue ignition switch does not work properly. Sometimes I have to "jiggle" it for several minutes before it will work. Yesterday I had to move the shift lever before it would work and t

there is no connection between the ignition switch and the shift lever. One turns the power on to run and start and the shift lever prevents start until neutral or park is set . Therefore it is possible that the fault is not in the switch but in the adjustment of the neutral switch on the transmission.

2002 olds intrigue seems to be starving for gas, could it be the injectors?

Not the transaxle you say- BUT- it shudders in -ANY-Transmission Gear

If you have some new parts there, why wasn't all fuel & ignition
properly checked out at the time.

You could have any number of problems or several

I fault the shops for all that, unless you seldom go to one
& they fail to know why your there or look at data & road test

How do you change the wheel sensors on a 2002 olds intrigue

They are integral with the hubs, so you need to change them. Not a bad job, but you need good tools. Remove the tire, remove the tie rod end and ball joint, remove the axle, remove the caliper, remove the bolts, drive out the old hub, installation is reverse.

Trying to find where a new ''coolant temp. sensor'' goes.

It's the grey connector on this photo, on the transmission side of the rear head:
