You may need a pair of visegrips and a 10mm wrench.after replacing the line you must bleed your brakes.you will need a helper fill up brake fluid have someone to pump up brakes hold down pedle brake lose the bleeder on the caliper let the air out tigten it re pump re repeat until no air keep an eye on the fluid.

How do I go about replacing break lines from front to rear on 2003 Oldsmobile alero

It's pretty straight-forward, but also tedious. Most lines can be purchased pre-bent. That will make your life easier.

  • Disconnect the brake line where it connects to the rubber brake line near the brakes.
  • Put a container under the hose to catch the brake fluid that drips out. The first one will drip a lot.
  • Disconnect the line at the master cylinder.
  • Connect the new line at the master cylinder.
  • Connect the new line at the brakes.
  • Repeat for all four corners.
  • Fill with new brake fluid.
  • Bleed the brake system.
It's not a fun job. Trying to get the new brake lines snaked where they need to go can be a real challenge. Plus, the fittings are probably rusted. This might be best left to a professional that has the right tools and experience.

2005 Chevy Equinox left front brake caliper locks up

Your vehicle should have rear drum brakes...They have to be adjusted manually for correct adjustment...People say they self adjust but it is not good enough....by adjusting the rear it will decrease the pressure on the front and deliver equal braking...This will help eliminate caliper pressure overload....I'm not saying that is your caliper problem but it is insult to injury and will save the life of front brakes.....Now your caliper problem..FYI..A rule of thumb is anytime you change a caliper you should always replace both calipers to have identical braking pressure".The same with brake hoses and rear wheel cylinders.....The caliper that froze in the first place got hot and boiled the brake fluid and quite possibly partially collapsed the caliper brake line/hose inside as Clint and Frank stated....I am going to guess that the first caliper froze under normal conditions however got hot enough to internally damage the caliper line/hose...Then you may think of the pressure regulator being bad in which case could be a problem......So this is what you do".Since we know the left front caliper line/hose has been exposed to heat it needs to be replaced anyway...also the fluid was boiled and it needs to be changed / bled...The new caliper that froze should be ok unless it was bad off the shelf which is rare but possible."..Change the line/hose,bleed the brake system and let the mechanic test drive before you pay and leave..The mechanic will know before driving if the new caliper that froze is bad or not by rotating the wheel...This is the cheapest way...And you will know if the pressure regulator is bad or not just by bleeding system........I hope this helps....."Brooks/Metalpoet....."....

90's Honda civic no pressure in the brakes replaced the master cylinder bled the lines still no pressure. What am I missing? Please

AFTER BLEEDING THE MASTER CYLINDER ON THE BENCH, DID YOU BLEED IT IN THE CAR, IF NOT, OPEN THE LINE AT THE MASTER 3/4 TURN OFF, HAVE SOMEONE STEM ON THE BRAKES, DO IT SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL YOU SEE FLUID ON BOTH LINE NO AIR COMES OUT, THEN WITH THE KEY ON START FROM THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL , SOMEONE PUMPS AND HOLDS THE BRAKES AND YOU OPEN THE BLEEDER 3/4 TURN, THEN LEFT REAR , THEN RIGHT FRONT AND LAST LEFT FRONT, IF NO PRESSURE AFTER OPENING 4 OR 5 TIMES, OPEN THE SYSTEM BY THE BRAKE HOSE, BEFORE THE CALIPER, IF PRESURE THERE REPLACE THE HOSES. 14 YR OLD HOSES MAY BE INTERNALLY CRACKED. NOT ALLOWING FLUID TO GO THRU.

The front end of my 92honda prelude is shaking and trying to pull hard to the left only when i apply the brakes but when Im not applying the brakes it pulls very little to the right. What would be making...

You need to replace the brake Pads, Turn the Rotors and probably replace the caliper on one of those sides. Either the right side isn't grabbing correctly or the left side is grabbing too much. Test the mater Cylinder for a possible blockage and make sure you bleed both calipers before you start replacing parts.

!996 Chevy Astro AWD pulls to the left when braking , I have replaced Both front calipers, rotors, and pads bled the brake lines and still it will pull to the left MOST OF THE TIME! when i least expect...

Check front end steering linkages for any play, as well as rear brakes for sticking or grabbing as well. Not unusual for a rear brake grabbing, to cause front end to want to wander.

I replaced my front brake router and brake pads today. when i bleed the front left brake, a line which im assuming is a brake line near the rear left tire burst and is leaking brake fluid. when u tried...

First, there is NO Pumping of the brake pedal
involved in bleeding brakes

I think your smart enough to know you
need to replace both rear brake hoses,
before you proceed with the bleeding

I just replaced my master cylinder on my 1994 ford thunderbird LX with a 4.6L V8. But my brake pedal is still going down to the floor board. What could be the cause of that?

you've bled the lines from back to front, and bled the master cylinder/ It sounds like air in the lines, so you should be able to get streams of fluid with no air at all bleeder screws-start from the furthest away from the master cylinder, to the closest, then do the master cylinder. If that doesn't work, you must have a broken line or a leaking caliper or wheel cylinder.

Brake line diagram

Brake Lines and Hoses
Double-walled steel line is used in the hydraulic lines between the brake master cylinder and the front tube connector, and between the brake master cylinder and the flexible brake hose at the rear wheels.
Double-flared brake lines provide good leak-proof connections.
When replacing hydraulic brake lines, hoses, or connectors, tighten all connections securely. After replacement, bleed the brake system; refer to Section 206-00 .
The wet appearance of the outer cover of the rubber brake hose is referred to as "sweating." This is a normal condition for neoprene rayon braid hose and is not a sign of leakage or cause for replacement of the hose.
