Question about 1985 Pontiac 6000

1 Answer

I've got a 1990 Pontiac 6000. Everything was fine until I cranked it yesterday afternoon. Immediately, the following symptoms showed up: ? A/C Compressor doesn't try to engage ? Speedometer doesn't work ? Odometer doesn't work ? Cooling fans start running with key in open position, even though it's not hot. ? Check engine light is on ? I can't give it gas until it has idled for 20 seconds, otherwise, it stalls. Any idea what's going on? The code scanner isn't pulling anything from the OBD1.

My 1990 Pontiac 6000 conked out while driving and it couldn't restart. It wasn't even firing but it was cranking. It's a 3.1L fuel injected engine, any ideas to what the problem could be?

You burnt out ignition coil packs on drivers side rear of engine. Should be 3 packs with two plug wires attached. Replace them and and drive away.

1990 Pontiac 6000 2.5 after driving, car stalls when put in gear.

You need to replace the TCC solenoid under the side cover pan of the transmission. You can also unplug the wires that go to the transmission in the front. After that it will not go into overdrive but it will stay running at stop lights untill you have it repaired.

Sounds like you are loosing fuel pressure intermittently. Is there any damage to the fuel lines? Maybe the fuel pump is on its way out (loosing prime.) If you find this helpful, please rate, thank you.

Crank position sensor bad?
Are you sure the fuel pump is working? Might be the sending unit in the fuel pump that is bad. Clogged lines, clogged fuel injectors, clogged fuel filter, all things that could be checked.
