Do you have any power at all in the vehicle? if so, is it doing nothing at all when you turn the ignition over?

Need to test starter. Do the headlamps, horn, and instrument panel light up? That's not really a test since the starter takes up the most amperage.

Using an inductive ammeter, try to measure the amps drawn when trying to start. The ammeter should read 75 to 110 Amps when the starter is turning vigorously.

If it draws that much and doesn't turn the starter is bad.

Also, the other extreme, if it draws 1 or 2 Amps when trying to turn over the engine and it doesn't turn, the starter will have to be changed as well.

I agree that the starter cable should be connected tightly, but usually that's not the problem. The starter is more common to be bad than the starter cable, as the cable is very thick.

Have the starter tested. if thats good may be the starter cable thats bad...also check the fuses.
