Question about Volvo S80
Yes, unless you can see the hookups from the front of the tank. You can probably get by with just dropping it a little. Leak is probably a bad hose.

You probably have a defective fuel-tank selector valve. Its located on the left frame rail, halfway down. While the vehicle is running, tank"A" is pumping fuel to the engine, while tank "B" is getting the unneeded fuel that is returning from the engine. Thats why it is overflowing.

SOURCE: gas leaking from tank
This sounds like you have a leak at the fuel pump and sender unit, either in the unit mount or in a fuel line. Check under your back seat for an access panel if you have one then remove it and look at the pump and sender mount to see what is leaking, you may have to start the engine to get it to leak as it may only leak under pressure, hope this helps, let me know

SOURCE: gas tank leaks when filled
To fix the gas gauge, replace the fuel sending unit located inside the gas tank. To install a filler hose, clamp the end of the new filler hose to the gas tank. Use a new hose clamp to ensure the hose is secure on the pipe. Tighten the bracket to the hose to secure it against the frame. Tighten the bracket with a socket wrench and push the end of the hose through the gas door. Secure it in place by tightening the three screws with a phillips head screwdriver. Test the hose by pouring gasoline into it. Crawl under the vehicle to observe and check for leaks.
