Check the main battery cable that runs from the battery to the starter...and of coarse pull the starter out and have it bench checked...but before u do anything please check to make sure your fuses are good and mabey test for voltage at the starter itself.

ecu is taking up more voltage as a back up reserved. Try removing the battery once it is loaded in the evening and put it back in the morning and try to start.Trial and observation will pin point the main cause.

It sounds like a loose wire to the starter, check the wiring going to the starter for any corrosion, breaks and make sure all the bolts and nuts are tight.

I have a 2005 Jeep Cheroke Larado. It will not start at all. When you turn the key to start it, it wont even crank over. It does'nt make a sound, but everything comes on. Lights, radio, ac, horn still...

If it's really not the battery (lights and everything CAN work, even when it doesn't have enough to click the starter). Next would be starter.. but you said you changed that out. I would look at the engine ground wire next (follow it from your battery to your frame and to engine block). Or just the battery wires in general. I am assuming you have tried to clean the battery and terminal connections - they should be nice and clean - no corrosion. If not, clean them with wire brush, sandpaper, or I have also scraped them clean with a flathead screw driver.. good luck

Something worth trying. The voltage on the battery being fine may not guarantee that it's making it to the other end.

I might try taking the battery clamps off and cleaning them and then make sure that they're put back on very securely.

It requires very little power for lights and radios to work, it takes enormous power to turn over an engine.

I hope this helps you.

Hi. Check first if the battery is working fine. Testthe battery using a volt meter. it should read out 12 volts. Check the terminal also if both are intact. if everything is ok. Then next to check is your starter. check all wires if everything is in place and intact. Check also the ignition key if its malfunctioning. If you swhitched it to ON position are you getting light on the dashboard?

Probably a stupid question, but does the car start? Have you checked the battery for proper voltage? (and charge rate). Other than that, I'd suspect a poor ground somewhere causing excessive resistance & draw on that system.(headlamps draw far more than dash lights so power is used up there first)

have you given the jeep a jump start....? push while in second gear? If it then starts it can only be your starter.....If it is not catching then there would be a prob with the flywheel as the teeth can wear...? you can give the 1st part a go...see if that works
