My windows and radio take about a minute before they work

My guess is, and it is only a guess, like with any computer the more things it has to remember during boot-up, the longer it will take. Cars have not been cars for some time and should be thought of as mobile computers. This is most true of models using a CAN-bus system where some functions have a high priority and some functions will not be available until the network ceases to be busy.

There is probably a cure but I am a complete dinosaur.

My '02 vw jetta wont reverse. Takes 30 minutes to warm it up for reverse to work. Help?

Hello, you could have a transmission computer issue. Do you get any warning indicator lights or check engine lights when this happens? If the tcu (transmission control unit) is located in the passenger floorboard area then those are even more prone to tcu failure. If you have failure lights, I recommend you get the codes and get back to me asap. I will be more then happy to run them and let you know what your issue could be. Hope this helps. 83 f250 with 460. will start and idle for 5-10

What a great truck I've had two, one I drove around in mexico for 6 months. You need to change the fuel filter. It is located under the truck on the fuel line coming from tank about even with the seat. You need a wrench set. Make sure you have the arrow on the new filter going the proper way, toward the motor. Good luck, thats a tough truck

How to replace an evaporate canister vent solenoid

replacing the the F75Z-9F945-CA solenoid is not that difficult, granted the space is tight. First, disconnect the electrical connection. Second, remove the solenoid from the canister by pulling the solenoid toward the driver's side of the vehicle ( the solenoid is attached to the canister with an O ring connection). Once the solenoid is disconnected from the canister you should be able to pull it down from the crossmember to gain access to the vacuum line on the solenoid. Once the vacuum line has been disconnected, the solenoid should be free. Reverse the steps to install the new solenoid. I did this today and the procedure took about 20 minutes from start to finish.

My ford f250 goes into reverse sometimes, other times it doesn't move at all, drive works fine. Any ideas?

Check the linkage. Set the parking brake, and examine the transmission where the linkage connects to the actuator on the transmission, and have somebody operate the shift lever. Take note if the transmission is going into reverse or not and if the actuator on the transmission is always going to the same spot.

If this test does not reveal a problem, disconnect the linkage from the actuator, and move the actuator by hand to the reverse position. you should feel it fall into the reverse position. If it does fall into the reverse position, and the transmission fails to go into reverse, then take it to a transmission shop
