How do i change the fan belt on an m reg 1.6 si ford fiesta. please give a diagram if possible.

havnt got a picture but just loosen the three bolts on the alternator, swing it inwards towards the engine block and remove/fit new belt, swing the alternator back out and tension the belt before doing up the bolts, use a long screwdiver as a "crowbar"to tighten. The belt should have 1/2/"play on the longest stretch between pulleys.....check the tension after 250 miles.(yes,it is that simple).

I have a ford galaxy and my power steering belt has snaped the new one wont fit back on witch pully is the ajuster

if you look at the engine youll see the alternator directly above the alternator you will see a pully which doesnt have grooves on the surface like the rest of the pullys. this smooth pully is the tensioner pully and you will need to use a large ratchet or spanner to to lift up the pully (its on a spring) so you can fit the belt.
shiney pullys indicate that they sit or rest on the outside of the belt.

hope this helps

Belt Squeaking

is the right belt fitted?its seems from what you are saying this belt is to small? check this out and check chassis number against new belt ref number;; if the wrong belt is fitted as you say then indeed it will pull the bearings in the alternator and run them out;as for the belt run this is a straight forward.let me know the out come.adrian
