Where is the dipstick for transmission fluid on Aveo 5 2008 manual transmission?

I've never seen a manual transmission with a dipstick. Even most modern automatic transmissions are sealed units designed to go 200k+ miles without a fluid change. Dipsticks are pretty much a thing of the past.

Manual transmissions almost always have two plugs on a side somewhere... One at the bottom to drain, and another 4 to 6 inches above it to fill. You add fluid until it just starts to dribble out of the fill-hole and put the plug back in. If your manual tranny uses ATF like my T-56 does, I find it easiest to drill a hole in the cap on the fluid bottle and add a grommet from a hardware store and stick in a 3' length of tubing. Now you have a squeeze-bottle making it easy to fill through an inconveniently placed hole in a hard-to-reach place.

How do i check the transmission fluid and change it in a 2005 chevy colbalt, and where does the speedometer cable connect into the transmission at?

There is no dipstick on this tranny (4T40E). On the passenger side of the tranny just beside the output axle seal, there is an 11mm 7/16" bolt head. With the vehicle running in park remove the bolt. If tranny fluid runs out it was over filled. On the top Drivers side of tranny, there is a red plastic cap (marked vent). Remove and add fluid here if low. Once the fluid runs out of bolt hole its at correct level. To do tranny fluid and filter change, loosen off all the pan bolts, drain. Filter is located under pan. Do not remove the bolt with engine off, it will lower the tranny fluid level. Fill with approximately 6.5 qts or lts. Start engine, remove bolt, let run out, when it quits its full. This doesn't change all 16qts ( the torque converter and valve body hold 8 or more), if you want complete change, get it flushed at a shop. It doesn't have a speedo cable anymore either. It has VSS's (vehicle speed sensors) in the tranny and also use wheel speed sensors in the ABS system to calculate speed for different systems. ABS, Cluster, Cruise control, Tranny shifting etc.

hi
your automatic transmission may be extremely low on fluid. check the automatic transmission fluid. go get three quarts at auto parts store type dextron II or equivalent.. make sure you get the right type. open the hood, start looking for the transmission fluid dipstick that it shows in the owners manual. if not it may be listed on the dipstick in the engine compartment. start the car set parking brake and check the dipstick with the car running. pull the dipstick out and wipe it off , replace, take it back out and look at the end of the dipstick. there should be fluid on the dipstick and it should be in between or right at the top line. the tranny fluid goes right in that dipstick hole you pulled the dipstick out of it takes a special funnel, theyre usually red, you can pick that up at the auto parts store too, tell them you need a funnel that will fill up the tranny fluid with a tiny end. theyll know. If theres no fluid showing on the dipstick you can safely add one quart of fluid and then let it run a minute and check fluid again. now fill in smaller increments at a time (1/2 cup) untill the fluid shows in between the lines on the dipstick. put a piece of cardboard under the engine overnight to see if its leaking and where. it may need a new gasket or the tranny cooler lines are leaking, study whats loose on the lines or get a haynes or chilton manual and put a new tranny pan gasket on it. its not too hard , just takes time and patience. if theres tranny fluid already in the car I suggest taking it in to be put on a computer for further diagnosis, but this may get you going.
good luck

Can't find transmission stick

I assume you are talking about the dipstick for the transmission fluid. There is no dipstick for the rodeo but you can check it at the transmission. At the bottom of the transmission is a pan, this is where you would find the transmission filter, there are two plugs that face down on the pan. The plug that is on the back of the pan and stamped and slightly recessed (and I believe in the right corner of the pan) is the fill/level check plug. With the truck hot and idling you would remove that plug and transmission fluid should drip out of hole.....make sure you are parked on a flat, level surface when doing this. If fluid is not dripping from the plug hole than you need to add tranny fluid and you will need a squirt bottle or something similar for this....If you are not comfortable doing this you should take it to a garage and let an experienced mechanic do it. I hope this helps.

The 1997 Chevy Malibu does not have a dipstick for the transmissi

Your gonna have to get under the car and find the bolt thats on the transmission on the driver side take it out while car is running and if any fluid comes out like a trickle its full. If not I believe to fill look under the hood and should have a red cap I believe the cap is somewhere under the brake master cylinder

Where do you fill the automatic transmission?

If you have a tranny dipstick, then you would need a long tranny type funnel and fill there.
If you do not have a dip stick, then you would have to raise the vehicle, and look at the tranny. There will be a higher and a lower plug on it. Remove the higher plug and stick your finger in the hole. If you feel fluid, then it is full.
