There is a diode inside the alternator that controls the charge light. It is possible for this diode to go bad even thought the alternator is charging like it is supposed to. Only way to really tell is to replace alternator.
Hope this helps

was the alternator bench tested? or tested on the car? if the alternator tests good off the car and the wiring has been tested, the ground may be loose or disconnected.

Resolving battery dying out and discharge light dosen't come on?

Discharge light will actually only come on when the alternator is not putting out its normal 13.5 - 14.5 volts. Sounds to me your alternator is fine, your battery has some dead cells, and will go dead soon as you shut off your engine. Battery is not accepting the charge the alt. is giving it. New battery is needed.

Why does my 96 Cadillac Eldorado battery keep discharging?

First step have the battery tested, a bad cell can cause a internal drain and kill the battery, if the batt is ok then check for interior lights like visors that stay on or interior light that come on by themselves at night due to defective door switches.

1995 explorer new battery new alternator battery light still stays on battery goes dead within-2 hours of driving any hints top look for?

Hello, the battery light on your Ford is controlled by the voltage regulator. If the light is on it's indicating the battery is not charging, and is being discharged. If you have a volt meter you can test at the battery. With the engine running the voltage should read at least 13.5vdc. If it's lower than that, the alternator is not charging, or the charge is not reaching the battery. Another simple test, is remove the negative battery cable, if the engine dies the alternator is not charging. Autozone will test your alternator and your battery for free, if you do not have any test equipment. If you just replaced the alternator and it failed the test, it should be under warranty. Same with the battery.

I hope this information is helpful.

Installed new battery yet the battery discharge warning light flickers, comes on then off. I noticed at times when driving 60-70 the light goes off. Today the card won't start, not even a click, click. what...

You most likely have a bad alternator that is not charging the battery properly. Have the battery charged fully and replace the alternator. This should fix your problem.

Battery will not stay charged

Check the battery strength and then double check your alternator to make sure it's charging.. I installed 3 alternators, new off the shelf, on one vehicle, and all three were duds (4th one worked fine). If the battery does not need replacing, and the alternator is charging, double check and make sure no components are left on such as a light in the glove box.

Battery light

1st thing to check would be the alternator, to make sure it's charging the battery. If it's not, the red battery light would come on. Most major parts stores offer free battery and charging system checks, they can tell you if the alternator is not charging. Have it checked asap, as the new battery will be dead soon if it's not being charged. countrycurt0
