Question about Volkswagen Passat

I am planning on painting my car and i am going to use the one stag method of painting. this would include base coat hardner and reducer all mixed together. i was wondering if i use this method could i spray the car afterwards with a top coat of clear. all the products are from the same manufacturer and compatible. or can i not use the hardner in the one stag method and then can i spray car with clear?

the base paint is a acrylic enamel, the hardner is a acrylic enamel urethane, and the clear coat is a acrylic enamel. the manufacturer is Trinity 1941.

You can apply a clear coat after the vehicle is painted, but you MUST use the hardener regardless of adding the clear coat or not. Is this single stage paint an acrylic urethane paint? Who is the manufacture?

You don't have to apply a clear coat. Once you paint the vehicle, your going to wet sand it starting with a 1500 grit, then polish and buff it out. The extra step in clear coating will provide more protection and gloss.

How much paint would it take to cover a thick coat on a 1984 ford f150

29.1. How much paint does it take to fully paint a car? It depends on the size of the vehicle, and the type of paint used. There are formulas for sq. ft. coverage, but in my experience are not always reliable. Let's take a 92 Cutlass Ciera for example, which would be a fairly common size. In a base coat /clear coat (BC/CC) application, I would mix 2 quarts of base coat, (perhaps one quart with an HVLP) which thinned to spraying consistency would give me a gallon of sprayable material, and should provide adequate coverage. However, some are more transparent than others, and additional or less material may be required. Paint booth lighting is essential to ensure proper coverage. After applying the base coat, I would mix two quarts of clear, which reduced would give me three quarts of sprayable material (two coats at approx 1 1/2 quarts per coat). An additional third coat could be applied if desired, but be sure to watch for excessive film build which can lead to dulling or solvent popping problems. If you don't have access to a paint mixing system, then buy more than you need. There is no way to fix a paint job that does not have adequate coverage except for repainting the entire car.

How many pints if paint does it take to paint a Toyota rav4

It depends on the number of coats you want to put on but normally less than 1 pint. Remember that you mix it with thinners in a ratio of around 1/4 paint to 3/4 thinners.. Talk to a paint shop or an auto refinisher for best advice.

How do i go about painting my wife's rav4 tire cover. What kind of paints do i use... eq metallic than a clear coat?

You need flexible primer and paint, base-coat and clear coat. The kind that body shops apply apply to bumpers. Go to your paint store and tell them you are doing plastic. They will sell you what you need. If you use regular paint, it will crack. You really should use the flexible paints.

2004 blue endeavor paint problem

This is a common problem with base coat clear coat paint, you may want to take it to the dealer and see if they will do something about it. GM and ford both had a problem with the clear coat fading and actually peeling away. If enough people complain they may do something about it. It has to basically be sanded down and repainted and clear coated again. The only sure way to keep this from happening is using a car cover when it’s in the sun. And blue is one of the worst I have seen for failure. But again it’s worth a shot to go to the dealer and see if there is a recall on the paint. The squeaky wheel gets greased
