Question about Chevrolet 1500
Do you need instructions for fuel pump instructions ? If yes, read below unless revert with the complete details.
Removing the Tank
1Relieve the pressure from the fuel system. Open the fuel cap and crank the engine; it will eventually stall. Shut off the engine and disconnect the negative battery cable.
2 Siphon out as much fuel as possible from the tank using an appropriate siphoning kit. Place the fuel into an approved gas container.
3 Raise and support the vehicle on jack stands. If the fuel tank has a shield over it, remove this shield by disconnecting its bolts.
4 Remove the EVAP canister by disconnecting the hoses from it and unbolting its mounting bracket near the tank, then disconnect the fuel lines from the tank at their quick-fit connections. Loosen the hose clamps for the fuel filler neck and vent hoses and disconnect them from the tank.
5 Place and raise a transmission jack below the tank to support it, then unbolt and remove the straps holding the tank in place. Lower the jack just enough to reach the electrical connectors for the fuel pump module, unplug the connectors, lower the jack completely and remove the tank.
Replacing the Pump Module
1 Disconnect the fuel and EVAP lines from the top of the pump module outside the tank at their quick-connect fittings.
2 Release the locking tab for the module by prying it with a needle-nosed pointer. At the same time, grasp the pump's retaining ring with a set of locking pliers and rotate the ring counterclockwise to remove it. Pull the module out of the tank.
3 Clean off the sealing surface of the tank. Make sure the replacement fuel pump module has a new, fresh seal on the underside of the top.
4 Insert the new fuel pump module into the tank, aligning it so the fittings to the fuel and EVAP lines will line up with the lines themselves. Press the module down until it is seated, install the retaining ring (make sure the tab locks in place) and connect the fuel and EVAP lines.
5 Install the fuel tank back on the vehicle in reverse order of dis-assembly. Fill the tank with the fuel that you siphoned out.
6 Re-pressurize the fuel system. Connect the fuel pump relay, turn the ignition switch on for about two seconds, switch it back off for five seconds and repeat about 10 times.
