Question about 2001 Mazda 626

2 Answers

I have just bought a 2001 mazda 626 Atlantis and notice there is a red light in the shape of a battery which goes on and off intermittently. I had this happen in a previous Mazda and ended having to get a new alternator!! Am hoping that this is not the same problem - can you advise. I think I should take it back to the dealer I bought it from, but he may say that it is an intermittent connection fault, as someone said to me once before.

It is probably the alternator ... the dealer may fix it for you or you may have to do it yourself. It may also be the battery ... do you know the age of the battery? Batteries live 3 to 5 years on average (depending on a variety of factors).

If it was an itermittent connection problem,It could be fixed by cleaning the connections and making sure they are all tight, This sounds like the alternator is beginning to fail and I would take it and have the alternator tested which can be done free at most auto part stores.

Hello I have a mazda 626 2001 and my brake red light is on and my emergency brake is off

Check the fluid level in the brake fluid reservoir. If it is low then the system has a leak or the brake friction material has worn down. Have the brake system checked at a shop when in doubt.

Just bought a mazda 626 LX hatchback. Noticed

This can be caused by few things but most likely by moisture. Mazda's immobilizer has this weekness that if it gets some dampness it can kick in. But to be 100% sure what was it it is best to get diagnostics test done.

Under steady acceleration, engine light goes on

Being a 95 it dosent have OBD2 so it may not store a trouble code in the computer.
From the symptoms it sounds like either, Air flow sensor, O2 sensor
The O2 will not usually cause stalling under acceleration.

2001 Mazda 626, intermittently overheats - especially but not always when not moving

Sounds like a fan issue...

Maybe a fuse, could be the relay.

Start the car and let it run at idle while not moving... if the car over heats and the fan never kicked on, then you need to figure out why it isn't kicking on.

to check the fan you simply need tro run a direct lead to the battery..if it doesn't come on then the motor is probably burnt up, if it comes on with a direct lead, then you have another issue.. fuse, relay, or thermostat.
