Thank you, the soinoids I see are around $20-40 at Oreilly's as opposed to $140-190 for starters from Oreilly's.

I think my solinoid is going out and not my starter. Symptoms, tinking sound everytime I turn the ignition. Either solinoid or the starter which ever one sounds like it is stuck so I tap on the starter and it will start. Whats your view on the problem?

definetly the solenoid in this instance........as there are 2 heavy duty contacts that provide the current to the windings to the starter motor..once these contacts become pitted and worn, they will exhibit the signs that you say....when you hit the starter it jolts these contacts back into continuity........

But it is much cheaper and cost-effective these days to replace starter and solenoid assembly as one unit, then to remove starter, buy solenoid, fit solenoid to starter and then assembly back into vehicle,,,,,,

    i hope this helps

No problems, as i said its just a trade off in labour, so if you are willing and have the know-how, this would definitley be the best option for you......good luck and i hope it all goes well for you....

How big is the gas tank on a 1992 ford crown vic. how many miles to the gallon. my gas gauge doesnt work. so i dont know anything about the gas.

1992 Ford Crown Vic 4.6 L V8 Automatic

Fuel tank capacity is 20 gallons (US).

Your fuel consumption will be affected by many factors, such as :
- how you drive the vehicle
- the condition and tune of the motor
- driving conditions (traffic, city use, highway use etc)
- tire pressures
- type and grade of fuel used .

It is impossible for me to estimate what fuel consumption you can expect from your own particular car without a whole lot of information.

It's unwise to run the vehicle for long with no working fuel gauge.
