Well it is either a power steering hose, the pump itself, or the power steering gearbox leaking.

hoses would be the first thing to look at. Fill it with fluid then with the engine running,. have someone turn the wheel back and forth while you look under the hood. You will see something leaking out if it is that bad of a leak.

Video of putting back apowersteering pump on 1995 dodge ram truck

Not sure what you are asking but it is not hard to replace the power steering pump just reinstall the same way you took it off. Just make sure to get all the air out of the system, to do that jack up the front to get the front wheels of the ground then with reservoir filled to correct height just turn the steering wheel from lock to lock what I mean by that is all the way to the right then all the way to the left. Have some one to look in the reservoir as you do this and watch for bubbles. When no more bubbles are present you have purged the system of air. Good luck.

Even if i had other problemsbad rack and pinionect.shouldnt the pump still be working circulating fluid thru the system?

The reservoir supplies fluid to the pump as it returned from the steering gear.Fill the reservoir and see if the noise goes away and the steering is easier.

The power steering isn't working. The reservoir was empty and I added power steering fluid and it still very hard to steer

YOU HAVE A RUPTURE PRESSURE LINE IF YOU HAVE NO POWER STEERING FLUID IN THE POWER STEERING RESERVOIR.LOCATE LEAK THEN BLEED POWER STEERING SYSTEM BY ADDING POWER STEERING TO RESERVOIR.DONT OVER FILL BY FULL COLD MARK ON POWER STEERING DIP STICK.ADD FLUID TO RESERVOIR WAIT A 2 MINUTES.CHECK FLUID LEVEL AGAIN.WHEN POWER STEERING FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.START ENGINE LET IT RUN FOR 10 SECONDS.THEN TURN OFF ENGINE CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID ADD FLUID IF FLUID LEVEL DROPS. WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING.SAFELY RAISE SUPPORT VECHICLE FRONT WHEELS.START ENGINE.NOW TURN STEERING WHEEL GENTLY FROM STOP TO STOP MEANING LEFT TO RIGHT DONT HOLD IN POSITION.LET THE STOP TO STOP BE QUICK.CHECK POWER STEERING FLUID AFTER YOU HAVE TURN STEERING WHEEL ABOUT 7 STOP TO STOP.WHEN FLUID LEVEL STOP DROPPING YOU AT HOT MARK ON DIP STICK BLEEDING PROCESS COMPLETE.TURN OFF ENGINE LOWER VECHICLE BACK TO GROUND WAIT ABOUT 5 MINUTES CHECK YOUR FLUID LEVEL.IF FLUID LOOKS LIKE A TAN COLOR.YOUR POWER STEERING SYSTEM FULL OF AIR.TURN OFF VECHICLE LET VECHICLE SET A LONG WHILE TO AIR BUBBLES SETTLE DOWN LOOK FOR LEAKS AROUND POWER STEERING PUMP FRONT SEAL AND CHECK FOR LEAKS AROUND POWER STEERING LINES.

Where is the power steering fluid in my 1991 deville

Hello: The power steering pump and fluid reservoir sit on the top of the engine toward the radiator on the passenger side, there should be a cap on top in back of the pulley that will come off, on the bottom side of the cap there is a dip stick, fill the reservoir to the line on the cap. Use power steering fluid, DO NOT USE ANYTHING ELSE.

Put wrong fluid in power steering of Dodge Ram 1500 pickup. How to flush and refill? 2004 Ram 1500 4.7liter engine V8 Quadcab 4X4.

They make a machine to do this, but it is too expensive to buy for just one use. The best thing to do it to take off the power steering lines where the connect to the steering rack. Then start the truck and it will pump out the fluid in the reservoir. Feel free to keep adding fresh fluid to it while its running just to ensure all is out. Then, to get the fluid out of the steering box, connect the lines back up, fill the reservoir, and with the vehicle running, crank the steering wheel back and forth from lock to lock. This will take the fluid from the rack and eventually bring it back to the reservoir. You must then again disconnect the lines and flush it out of the reservoir. You may want to repeat this several times, it may take a long time, but will be cheaper than replacing the steering rack, box, pump, and lines. Good luck, and have fun. :-P

Power steering

With the engine off, fill the reservoir with fluid and turn the wheels slowly lock to lock a few times. Top off the fluid and start the engine. If it still whines a bit, turn the wheels back and forth a couple times and then shut it off. Let it set about an hour or so until the fluid looks a solid color again.

Fluid Leaks in Hemi 5.7L Vehicles

If your car steering is groaning chances are you need the power steering pump repaced. Open the hood and look for fresh moisture and you can usualy trace it back to the leak.
Or take a large piece of card board and park the front of your car on it, trace around the front wheels and let it set unitl enough fluid is gatthered to identify color and texture, then take your car along with the cardboard to a service station you trust
