HI, the clock spring is located under the steering wheel and is a component of the airbag system. Working with the airbags is extremely dangerous if not done correctly. You should not attempt this yourself.

The clockspring (AKA Contact Assembly or spiral cable) under the steering wheel is most likely broken. The clockspring is what makes the connection between the horn button and cruise control buttons in your steering wheel and the main wiring harness. (you have to have a flexible circuit so you can turn your steering wheel around in circles) The cockspring assembly also contains the circuit for the driver's airbag. If your AIRBAG light on your dash is on, this is most likely why. The steering wheel must be remove to fix it. The airbag system has to be disarmed before any work should be done to the steering column.
AllData shows a dealer list price of $77.71 and a standard labor time required to replace the clock spring at 1.0 hours.

How do i go about fixen my cruise control were is that fuse located? or how do i go about fixen it an also my horn?

If you lost your cruise and horn at the same time, remove your steering column covers and inspect the clockspring harness wires to column connector, I've seen these break here, also failed clockspring. repair or replac eas needed. GOOD LUCK. RDJRP

On my 1997 Chrysler Town & Country , my Horn and Cruise control went out , checked fuses and relays. They were good. Now the Air bag light is on. what could be the problem??

This is definitely an issue with your clockspring. The clockspring is a device in the steering column that provides electrical contacts for horn, cruise and airbag. The good news for you is this part is covered under a Chrysler warrantee / recall.

Ford f350 horn and cruise control quit working, whats the problem?

It is most likely a part called a clockspring. It is located behind the steering wheel. When that part is defective you will almost definitely lose your horn, airbag, and cruise control. If it is not that it is probably corroded at the harness located on the steering column or at the cruise control module in the engine bay. If you have tilt, which you probably do, those wires can become frayed at the plug or directly after the plug at the column. I would start with fuses, then wires, then clockspring.

The horn and cruise control doesn't work, fuses are

sounds like a bad clockspring. located in steering column under steering wheel, operates airbag, horn cruise etc, it make wire connection possible so the wheel can spin, its a roll of flat wires, that unroll and roll up as steering wheel is truned from left to right, wires break after a while.

Cruise control and horn stopped working

You need a new clockspring. It is behind the steering wheel, at the top of the steering column. It has wires wound around it like a clock. You will need to disconnect the battery, remove the air bag, then the steering wheel, and the steering column trim. Unbolt it, and install in reverse order.

No power to the horn switched relays around still

hello, it is common for chrysler to use no horn fuse! what they use in place is the "clockspring". the clockspring is located in steering columb under the wheel....does your cruise control work (if equipped)? if no cruise control function it is most likely a bad clockspring!..... good luck, marty

Horn and cruise not working?

The clockspring in the steering column is broken, It causes the airbag light to stay lit and the horn and cruise control to stop working. See below:

On 10/5/2004 a Motor Vehicle Recall, number 04V480000 was issued on this vehicle for this problem. From the recall bulletin:
ON CERTAIN MINIVANS, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY BECOME DISABLED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE HUB OF THE STEERING WHEEL.

Consequence:

THIS CONDITION WILL MANIFEST ITSELF THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP, AND COULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DRIVER'S AIR BAG OPEN CIRCUIT, IF THE PART IS NOT REPLACED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME.

Remedy:

DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING ASSEMBLY ON ALL COVERED VEHICLES WITH 70,000 MILES OR LESS. FOR THOSE VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 70,000 MILES, DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL OFFER AN EXTENDED LIFETIME WARRANTY UNDER WHICH IT WILL REPLACE THE CLOCKSPRING AT NO CHARGE IF IT FAILS. DAIMLERCHRYSLER WILL ALSO REIMBURSE OWNERS WHO HAVE PAID TO HAVE THE CLOCKSPRING REPLACED ON THEIR VEHICLES. THE RECALL BEGAN ON OCTOBER 12, 2004. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403.
