I have a thumping noise on my 2000 Volkswagen beetle when I drive it

Check to see if one of your tires is old and breaking apart. Look at the Dot info on tire to see when it was made. First two digits is for the week and last two is for the year. Any tire more than 6 years old is subject to dry rot and inability to sustain high speeds - they just fall apart when you are scooting down the road! Until you resolve this make sure you have a good working spare in car!!!!!!!!!!!

Keep your speed down until..........

How do you fix a rotten floor by the door on the camper

Hi Harold:
There's the crude and the fancy.
crude is to screw a piece of plywood over the rotten area so you don't fall through.
Fancy involves taking your time, removing the floor covering, and then cutting out all of the rotted parts.
Then you have to fabricate replacement pieces that can be spliced (glued and screwed) to undamaged parts. Then install new floor sheathing, and finally new floor covering.

Bought a used 1995 Camry, 4 cylinder, 84,000 miles. Car went dead at a red light after a rain storm. Replaced a rotted fuel pipe, manifold hose and pipe. Car drove smoothly but then bucked. Mechanic says...

Does not sound right to me. What does he say is wrong with distributor? There are not two of them. If he means crankshaft position sensor, several sensors can be tested by one hour of labor by a good mechanic. You can even test them yourself with a $20 volt/ohmmeter. I would check both the crank and cam sensors. If those tested good, I would check fuel pressure at the injector rail. Test procedures are available online at the link below.

The fabric of the headliner is falling down due to the underlying foam backing dry rotting. How do you remove the headliner of the 1999 Ford Escort, and is there a place that sells a replacement?

This is definitely not a job to attempt yourself. Headliners are typically hard to fit for the inexperienced amateur and you may well end up with a mess on your hands.

If you wish to keep the car I suggest your best option is to seek out a reputable auto upholstery trimmer and get him to fit a new headliner for you.

Ceiling fabric sagging

there are products made to deal with this issue, most of the big chain car parts stores carry a product that will work. tell the counter people what you are looking for, they will help you out. it's spray adhesive in a can just follow the directions. i have used it, it works pretty well. in a few years the top will usually fall down again. by that time my car had other problems and i got rid of it so i can't say if another application would make it stay up a while longer. hope that helps
