Question about 2003 Honda Odyssey

1 Answer

How do I replace the back lights in the instrument panel (odometer, etc)? I have a 2003 Odyssey. It would be great if you had some illustrations or photos of the process.

I should have done a better job describing my issue. Only a few of the lights are out. The dimmer is not the cause. Only a few of the illumination lights are out. It is actually hard to tell which ones. But can you help me figure out how to remove the required parts of the dash to get to the instrument cluster lights? Do I need to remove the lower dash cover first, or can I just get remove the instrument panel cover straight away? A few months ago I replaced the back light for the clock. Would these light bulbs be the same?

It is very unusual for the instrument cluster bulbs to go out. I suggest you check first, the dimmer switch, if it is too low, the lights don't come on at all. Second, check the fuse (Inst. Cluster) in the fuse box located under the dash. if dimmer and fuse are OK, when you remove the cluster, make sure the three electrical plugs in the back are tightly connected to the cluster.

The link I sent you by mistake was for another vehicle. Here are some diagrams that show how to remove the Inst. cluster for your Odyssey.

The link I posted first, will give you a good idea of how to remove a instrument cluster. Check it out. The diagrams on the second post, are particular of your vehicle, you will need a small flat head screwdriver with a piece of tape wrapped around the tip to avoid scratching the cluster. Use this screwdriver to help you release the tabs holding the cluster besides the screws that are philips head.

You shouldn't have any problems replacing the bulbs, they should be the same as the ones you replaced before.

    Keep me posted!!

Like I stated on the last comment, the link I sent is for another vehicle, but, looking at the pictures, will give you a good idea of how to remove your own instrument cluster. Unfortunatelly I could not find one like it for your Odyssey, all I could find was the diagrams I sent you, they are from an Odyssey mini van.

How do I change the odometer bulb in a 2003 odyssey?

First you have to remove the combination meter set ( Odometer and RPM meter plus the temperature and fuel gauges) from the dash board by unscrewing 3 or 4 screws. Bend you head down and look above your meter set, you will see the screws holding the meters. Pull out the meter set and unplug the cables behind the meters. The bulbs are there. Remove the bulbs by turning the holder and replace the faulty bulb/s accordingly.

2005 explorer sport trac instrument cluster and odometer intermittent failure?

Pull the instrument cluster out of the dash check all the connectors to it for loose pins and also take a look at the printed circuit on the back of the panel, look for any obvious problems. More than likely just pulling the connectors and reinserting them several times may cure this problem.

I recently got my (Honda Odyssey 2006) oil changed by a non Honda tech and now i need the service maintainence signal -code A14 reset so that i can be notified when the next oil change is due.

  • Lets get started. Place the key in the ignition and turn as if to start your minivan - but do not actually start your Odyssey.

  • 2) Locate and click the black odometer button located near the bottom of the instrument panel until "Oil Life" along with a percentage value appears.
  • 3) Release your finger from the button, then press and hold the button for ten (10) seconds.
  • 4) Once again, release your finger from the button, then press and hold the button for five (5) more seconds. Lets count: one Mississippi, two Mississippi, etc. all the way to five.
  • 5) Your Honda Odyssey's display panel should read "Oil Life 100%." You are done!

Sounds as though u have experience the GM usual cluster failure. They go bad more often then probably any other vehicle. Gm has been replacing some under a goodwill warranty for some customers.

If this is an intermittent problem,
remove the IPC 10A fuse in the fuse box under the hood,
not in the fuse panel by the driver side door,
    for 5 minutes.
    The electronics will reset.

How do I change a Honda Odyssey odometer light bulb

Lower the tilt steering all the way down. Remove the two phillips screws at the top of the bezel and pull gently from the sides to release the clips. There are four phillips screws at holding the instrument cluster in. After removing the four screws tilt the cluster top towards you and unplug the two connectors. Pull the cluster out and replace the bulb, it will be directly behind the odometer.

Honda Odyssey year 2000 , light in odometer not working.

You will have to pull the instrument panel to get to it, but the lamp (bulb) needs to be replace. There are a few screws that hold the panel in, but as you are taking it out, you will need to disconnect the wiring harnesses and the speedometer cable. Reinstallation will be the harder part of this job, but the steps are the same in reverse order, so pay attention to how you take it out.

Hope this was a little help,
