Question about 2001 Saturn SC

1 Answer

2001 saturn SC2 with 190K miles. It does not start just now. It was driving fine with absolutely no bad indication or whatsoever like 3 hours ago. But now, it fails to start no matter what I try. The service engine light is on, battery light is on and engine oil pressure light is on. I tried to start with external battery, no go. I tried to step on brake while starting, no go. I know the vehicle has lots of mileage and it is not surprising to see it break down at this high mileage. But it has been extremely well maintained and running just like new until just now. Please help out. Thanks!

Just want to add that the lights are not behaving abnormally like many other people experienced. They are just as they should be doing. But the car does not crank. I can hear one click, like you pressing a button, but not the real cranking sound at all. Thanks!

Just want to update. Somehow, it can be started now. I didn't change a thing. I did step on the brake while I ignite it. But I tried that earlier as well, when it did not work. Something must be going wrong. People with experiences please tell me what is slowly dying and needs to be replaced? Thanks a lot!

Vibration bad thirty miles per hour plus

Start by getting your tires balanced and the underside of your car inspected. Ask the technician to look at your brake rotors while the wheels are off. Deformed rotors can cause vibration, felt especially in the steering.
I wouldn't drive the vehicle unless absolutely necessary until the issue is checked. A severe vibration could lead to catostrophic failure of parts, which in turn could lead to a wreck.

No, the fuel gauge not working wouldn't have anything to do with your not starting problem , probably the gauge is bad . With the SECURITY light lit , anti-theft system problem ! Service light ????? Service engine soon ? Or service vehicle ? With the light's on code's DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored . Have it checked , don't guess as to what the problem is. This would prevent the buying of un needed parts .

Indicator light- looks like an upside down arrow pointing into a box of liquid- on my saturn sl 2000. Goes on after i go over about 10 miles an hour. i lost my manual long ago! What is this indicating?

the light means that your coolant level is low. after the car has sat for long enough to cool down remove the radiator cap and ad 50/50 mixture antifreeze till full. start car and ad more as required. check for visible leaks.

1994 saturn sc won't start after driving couple of miles

the common problem on these cars is a bad coolant temp sensor when they start going bad they will read a cooler temperature for the computer than the actual temp some times it is a big difference.and the colder it reads the more gas will be supplied this will flood the car and you will smell gas.the part is cheap.about ten dollars
