Depends on the anti-freeze.if using an anti-freeze that is allready a 50/50 mix than its not a good idea, but if your anti-freeze is pure (it will tell u on the container)then mix it half water, half anti-freeze.

If you buy and use a PreMix then don't add water. If it is not a PreMix you can add water. Never use tap water! Minerals in it will cause scale and calcification of the cooling system, narrowing the inside of the passages and reducing cooling system efficiency. Buy Distilled water from the grocery store and use that.

Yes, but most antifreeze come premixed. The antifreeze is most important in the winter, but you can mix them.

I have a 1996 saturn 1.9 litre. Ohc. I replased water pump and still getting very warm. I found a pin hole in the underside of the radiator cap. Its on the bottom on the part above the water hole. Could...

Pressure test the radiator for leaks if it holds pressure start the engine. And check if pressure rises and keeps rising ,if it does it points to blown gasket or cracked head. A faulty thermostat can make it over heat so check it out . I would not mix the anti freeze as a lot of them don't mix well. put the anti freeze in all year as it stops corrosion of the cooling system.

How many gallons of antifreeze will it take ?

Anti freeze is mixed on a 50/50 basis. The coolant capacity varies so check the hand book for capacities and mix the anti freeze to water before adding to radiator. Drain radiator first so as not to mix different anti freeze products.

Your vehicle takes dex-cool antifreeze. You can get the 50/50 mix type or just get the full strength and mix it with half water. You should be able to get it at Wal-Mart or any parts store. They also have some anti-freeze that can be mixed with any type of anti-freeze.Hope this help you.Good luck.

Car running hot-can i use water temporarily until i get antifeeze

Yes you can but it should be as a last resort. The scale in the water when heated will fix itself to the engine interior. Over a period of time it will accumulate and then plug the radiator. Antifreeze helps keep this from happening as well as provide freeze protection for your car.

Is there a certain type of antifreeze I need to use for my 2003 Dodge Stratus

Many believe that most brands will give you very similar protection. What is very important is that you are aware not to use full strength anti-freeze. You can buy pre-mixed if you don't want to mix the anti-freeze and water yourself.
Most recommend about 50% anti-freeze, and 50% water. be sure to check the instructions on the bottle.

I hope this helps you.

Antifreez type 1991 volvo? 4cyl

Volvo would like you to believe you need their o.e.m. and pricey anti-freeze to keep your cooling system from falling apart. NOT! Any good quality anti-freeze will perform well. Just be sure to mix it 50-50 with water when adding or changing, or using the 50-50 premix that's sold ready to use. More expensive because you're paying anti-freeze prices for water! I have used off-the-shelf anti-freeze in all my Volvos, which run 300,000 miles or more. You can extend the life of your radiator, water ump etc, but flushing the system every year or so, draining off the old coolant and adding a fresh mix.

1993 Toyota Celica Anti-freeze

A 50/50 mix will get you enough protection for all but probably the most extreme climates. You can go into just about any place that sells anti-freeze and get it already pre-mixed 50/50. Its actually better to do it that way because its precisely mixed and used pure water for the mix rather than tap water.
