Whats the make and model? Depending on what you are driving it sounds like either your oil filter is plugged up and you need an iol change, you have oil that is too thick in there, too much oil, or possably a clog in the oil pump or paths running to and from that area

How to chck a fuel pump

check 12V at pump terminal when on/cranking

hear/feel pump operation (if external to tank)

if low pressure (carby) disconnect fuel line and observe flow. If high pressure (FI) connect fuel pressure guage and observe pressure. Check fuel filter while doing all this. Filters are the source of many problems that start people messing with fuel pumps.

Hi I have the same problem it will start when fuel sprays in the throttle body all day long and then go to start it again and no fuel and I have to spray starting fluid .I also noticed when I turn the key...

your problem may be the fuel pressure regulator, located on the end of the fuel [rack] just before the injectors.the reason the oil pressure jumps is because the motor is'nt running right.spraying starting fluid into it may cause engine damage, such as a blown head gasket, engine piston rings collaspe,it take 180 pounds of pressure from the fuel pump, just to run the engine right. you're problem may be there,or a restriction in the fuel lines, such as sucking air before the fuel reaches the engine, look for a pin hole in fuel line. seen any fuel in parking space? try cardboard under truck at idle, when not in use. suggest also lucas fuel treatment in gas tank, you may only have a blockage in fuel line due to ethanol gas! hope this helps and as always there are online chats, phone support, and e-mail help with merry christmas from me and mine to you and yours!!

Engine 3800 for 98 Park ave. shows oil pressure too high on the gauge. what could cause this

Sounds like your oil pressure sending unit is faulty! When you turn the key on, is the gauge reading low, then you start it and it pegs out? if so, the sending unit has failed.

High oil pressure on guage. It goes to zero with engine off. Where is the sensor?

High oil pressure is ok, lack of pressure if the engine is running, is very bad. Pressure is supposed to drop to zero as soon as you turn off the engine, nothing abnormal about that.

Oil pressure guage pegs out when I accelerate--WHY

Check wiring to sensor on motor clean or replace. If that is OK.then consider: older high mileage cars will start to ware their bearing and causing more back pressure under load, you may have to live with it. Unless you what to rebuild motor.

The oil pressure guage on my 2006 nissan frontier is reading very high after recently changing the oil, however, the correct amount of oil was added during the change. Furthermore the oil dipstick...

The guage may rise a little when you accelerate the vehicle...but if it is pegged high, and does not fluctuate, when you turn your ignition key on an off...Your oil pressure switch maybe going bad...Goodluck

When my truck gets real hot the oil preasure guage starts bouncing when truck idles as soon as truck is put into park or is reved up a bit it stops bouncing

You may have a Faulty Oil Pressure Sender.
Here are some reason why your guage is bouncing:
  • Corrosion or faulty electrical connections
  • If the oil pressure gauge is pegged low after the engine is running, or is pegged high after the engine is running, or if there is intermittent illumination of an oil pressure indicator light, the sender could be faulty
You can find the oil sensor on the left hand side near the Oil Filter, as long as you don't hear your lifters ticking and making lots of noise. it's not your oil pump failing.
Good luck and hope this helps
