Most of the time its caused by a bad blower motor resistor. you may need to replace the pigtale connector to it if it is melted.

My 1994 volkswagen golf has a problem with the cooling fan, it keeps running even after the car is shut off. How do i fix that?

It may be running because the engine hasn't cooled down. These fans will run until the engine reaches a specific cool temp. But if it's not running hotter than normal temp, it's within the temp switch, which reads the temp of the engine, or the relay could be bad and not know when to shut down. While you're driving look to see what the temp gauge is reading. This will lead you in different direction for the temp. switch.

I need to change my distributor on my 1994 golf.

Pull the distributor and look for the series number, or take it down to the parts house and have them match the distributor to a new oem replacement. Takes the guess work out of the engine build code.

Heater blower switch will only work at possion 4

Underneath the glove compartment on the passenger side is a cover which must come off,2 plastic screws holding this cover.Underneath you will find a 5 pin connector[big plug] connected to a white connector in the blower fan housing. This is called the fan resistor which controls the blower fan speed.Unclip the resistor out the housing and renew.Your problems should be solved..regards

VW Mk 4 golf heater fan settings 1-3 not working but 4 does. Can anyone help? The fan will only work on the higest setting but does not work on the lower setting. I can hear the A/C kicking in when you...

It's most likely to be the resistor, it's a common problem. You should be able to get one at your local motor factors or breakers yard and they are generally easy to fit. Not sure of its position on a golf - check a haynes manual or ask your local garage.
