Go to the parts store and get a rubber/metal/bolt/screw assembly designed to plug freeze plugs that come out of the engine and leak antifreeze.

It will look a little different than the original freeze plug, but will work fine.

Replacing freeze plugs on Madza 929 Do you have to take the head off to get to some of them ?

if you ever have this issue where you don't believe them. they have shop manuals and can show you the parts in the motor. you have the 6 cylinder and i don't have the shop manual to see how they come apart. most engines you don't need to pull the heads off. yours could be different. there should be freeze plugs around the block that rust out and are a pain to change. did they pull the motor to change those? what year is it and i am guessing you live where they salt the roads

Freeze out plugs

The freeze plugs are a term used for the residual casting hole caps in a motor block. The original cap design is a pressed fit to an open hole.

The cap can rust through and leak. Or the casting can have a less than perfect opening difficult to seal.

Newer designs have expandable rubber plugs which can be easier to install and more successful. But this does not exclude using a standard replacement.

There is an advantage in experience for installing these parts. But the process is using a hammer and socket to drive the part into the engine block.

Access is the key for either replacement freeze-plug. Each plug is stand alone, with any being as likely to survive or fail as the other. Good quality anti-freeze has rust inhibiters to preserve these parts. In short, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Fix the leaking part and leave the rest.

I have a 98 gmc 4x4 jimmy and the freeze plug burst at the motor mount drivers side. i am still driving it but keeping the water filled in thr radiator conwstantly. can i keep doing this or will it do more...

A 2 hour trip with a freeze plug leaking is almost a guarantee that you will be buying a new engine. Stop driving it until you can get the freeze plug fixed. It will only take an hour or so to change it if your friend has an skill at car repairs. Hope this helps.

Compressor froze and broke serpentine belt. Do I have to buy new compressor or can I fix one I have? If can fix one I have, how do I fix it?

1.) Your choices are buy a new one - shop around
2.) buy a rebuilt one - shop around
3.) buy a used one from a used auto parts yard - shop around

If teh compressor is frozen the labor cost to try to repair it would be considrable and what every caused it to freeze up may have done unrepairable damage (these operate under high pressure)

Freeze plugs ford econoline 150

The freeze plugs can be fixed with the engine in the veicle. There are some rubber plugs available that have a bolt thru the middle. Pry out failed plug, push in rubber replacement, tighten bolt to expand rubber. Fixed.
