You have a common problem; back in the early 90, the distribtors assemebly was causing alot of shut down problems for Hondas, the pickup assembly inside the distibutor would become hot and stop producing sparks/ engey to the sparks plugs. When cars came into the shop we would most of the time just replace the distributor assembly, but they can be kind of expensive thought, if you live near a salvage year it may be your best option for getting a good used one.
sounds like it could have ignition module failing, also possibly coil starting to go.I seen same problem on 92 hatchback, put module and coil on and runs fine.goodluck...
I would suggest an ignition module. If it is a rough idle at startup I would check the throttle position sensor. You can check that by starting the car and unplugging the TPS. If the car runs differently then chances are it is working fine.
i have the same car and the same problem it is your rev-limiter its a wire problem there is not much you can do but replace your wire harness and it will not burn out your clutch if you have it in neutral so don't sweat it.mine has been doing it for about 2 years its nothing that will do any real damage hondas will run forever just as long as you keep the tune ups on it.oil change, trans fluid, spark plugs etc...
if your car turn over and it sound like it want to start then i think it is your ignition coil so got car scrap yard get another that is your vehicle and put it in.
