Hi, when you put the coolant in did you undo any air bleed screws that run around the top hoses running around the engine( if you cant find none then it must be self bleed system) then when you go to put the coolant back in you need to trickle it in very slow to ensure you dont get an air lock as this will cause it to over heat.

then when the coolant is up to its correct level you need to leave the filler cap off and start the engine then wait for the temp to be at normal running temp then switch it off and replace the coolant filler cap, then take it for a run and see if it over heats.

have you checked if the rad fan is working and cooling as it should be also have you checked the heater in the car is working on hot it needs to be on hot and check if you have hot air coming out.

if you dont have any hot air coming out then it could mean you have head gasket problems.

let me know what you find then ill assist you further ok

plz rate this post as i have a whole page of post that are unrated, thanks

Make sure you have primed all the air out of the system.

You could have blown a head gasket.or crack a head.or maybe a fan is not kicking on to cool it.if it has a misfire then check the plugs and wires.
if it isnt anyhing you have probley already check i would take a closer look into the head gasket or cracked head. do a compression test,or see is the coolent in the radeiator bubbleing. tiny bubbles. probley a head gasket.

This usually means a blown head gasket or cracked/warped head

2004 nissan quest overheating a little

You can run the engine without the thermostat as a test.
Not recommended to run it forever like that.
The problem could be air in the system, or a faulty water pump not making the coolant flow.

One thing you could do is start the car with the hood up watch the temp gauge and when it starts getting hot watch to see if the fan comes on if not it could be the fan motor or a fan switch . Hope this helps

Engine running hot and the water in the radiator is bubbling but not hot i think its the water pump but someone told me it was the thermostat im a mechanic but im always open for suggestions

If the bubling is sort of gassy, the likelyhood is a blown head gasket. But check the easy things first. Check the thermostat the usual way. Test the radiator cap too. Have a cylinder leakage test done on the engine, followed by a pressure test of the cooling system., in this order. If these test show no problem (I'd be surprised) have the radiator and engine block reversed flushed.

Also could be cooling fans. Did you notice if your fans are working when it is hot? Could be bad fan relay which would keep your fans from turning.
