Hi, the first thing i would do is change the filter and the fluid as this is the most likely cause but if you still have problems after that then you need to start looking at thins like torque converter.

let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok

plz rate this solution as i have pages of unrated posts, thanks

How many miles on your trans fluid? Trans filter? Have you ever had your trans fluid power flushed/vacuumed out? Check local discount coupon books for a discount. Go to a transmission place have it flushed(costs a few bucks more) and ask about the transmission's performance. At least they can look at it, maybe adjust it, & you get a diagnoses for free. Good luck.

Location and access to Transmission Filter to change Trans. oil and Filter

Hi Lb,
My car is RX300 1999 and has the same problem. I changed the fluid 2 years ago after the trans slip and lost the shift. Afterwards it worked for another 2 years. But recently it doesn't work again even I change fluid and put Stop Slip additive to the trans. I was told the trans has to be rebuilt. So changing fluid and filter can help to maintain the trans for sure and can prevent problem. But if the trans has already worn a lot, it can't help at last.

Steerinf issues

My guess is that you have a cvc joint that's gone bad.. (A cvc joint is a joint in the kind of drive shaft (axle) that comes out of the trans-axle to the wheel.) I'm thinking you need a shop for this problem. It's not an easy repair for a novice. You'll probably need to have the joints on both axles repaired.

2001 chevy 2500 hd 4x2 allison trans seems to loose pressure after coming to a stop, have to rev engine for a few seconds before it pulls again, whats up with that? 88800 miles

I would start
by changing both trans filters and fluid, makesure you put dex VI in trans then if still having problems take to someone with a Tech 2 scanner and have them reset the trans adapts and try that, what it does is resets trans to factory (new) mode and then as you drive the truck it will adjust to your driving habits and shift points, but loosing pressure makes me think one of your filters is partially plugged...there is a spin on cartridge and the internal one in pan, change em both..good luck

I have a 2005 pacifica, it made a pop noise and wouldnt go forward. now it goes forward an not in reverse. i can also hear the gears shifting, could that be the tran. filter? if so where is it located?

may be a trans filter but the pop noise concerns me to but the trans filter is located under the vehicle and you pull the pan down catch all loose fluid 8 quarts or so and then pull filter off then just put new filter in and new gasket rebolt pan to trans and refill with new fluid also clean the magnent off thats in the bottom of the pan

if i helped please give me good rating thank

How do you tell if a cvc joint is broken without pulling everything apart

If the CVC joint is broken, the car would not move. I assume that you are hearing unusual noises in the drivetrain. It is worthwhile to have a certified mechanic take a look at the car to determine if the CVC needs to be replaced, before serious problems develop.

Have a 2001 Buick LeSabre. Vibration turning left . Think it may be CV Joint. How do I pull the axle out to check CV Joint?

Rasie vehicle, remove tire, axle nut and caliper. remove tie rod end from spindle, remove lower ball joint nut and seperate from spindle and pull spindle from axle, with pry bar pop axle out of trans housing. it is easyer to replace cvc axle than to replace or repair cvc joint.

Most likely you have a control issue, have a trouble code test run on the system and see if any transmission codes are present, this is an electronically controlled trans, it has it's own computer, that takes info from driving conditions and makes gear changes and such through a bank of electric solenoids located inside the trans case, when this trans stops engageing don't drive it, you could ruin the forward clutchs and this would require a very costly overhaul. Zero in on the shift solenoids, they or the valve body is causing this. Best of luck.

RAM 1500 OBD CODE p0700/p0740

I had the same problem and a friend suggested that I get a filter kit for the transmission. My dodge ram 1500 stopped pulling and had to be towed home. I got a filter kit for the transmission and now the truck is runniing good again and the transmission is shifting ok.To get the code off by going to
Auto Advance and used their code reader to erase the code. My truck has 249K on it and I know the trans will not last forever, but as long as it is running ok. I will live with the codes but make sure the trans fluids are changed every 10k.
