2004 Ford Escape 3.0 V6 - I had the spark plugs replaced when first experienced misfiring, and code said misfire on #4 cylinder. Right after replacement, things were fine. About a month later, starting to feel like it is misfiring again, but I am not getting a light on the dash this time. What could be wrong now?

Don't swap out parts based on guesses.

Take spark plug 4 and put it on cylinder 1, put 1 in 4. Does the misfire move to 1? You need a new plug.

Or an auto electrician can diagnose the misfire with a 5 grand scan tool computer in about 30 minutes.

that sounds like those cylinders injectors might be the problem . When an injector over fuels or fails to supply fuel it would create a misfire just like if a plug or coil failed

The flashing light means the problem is serious and you should not drive the truck. This probably happens when you are accelerating.
Since each cylinder has a coil, it could be moisture in the main wiring harness or a connection.
Could also involve the fuel injectors. You could have water in the gas for example.
The code means that cylinder is not producing power, not a lack of spark.

I have an 2002 Escape with a 3.0L engine.
First you need to get a OBD2 scan for the check engine code.
I suspect the code will tell you that one of the cylinders is misfiring.
If you also have the V6 engine, the most common cause of misfire is one of the Coil-Over-Plugs (COP). Each cylinder has a COP on the spark plug.
On the V6, you need to remove the upper intake manifold to get the back 3 COPs.
If you have a V6, and you have cylinder misfire, I recommend replacing all the plugs and coils.

I have had 2 COPs go bad. The second time, I replaced all of them.

Removing the intake is fairly easy if you have some repair experience. You need to get an intake gasket set for about $10-15.
The coils run +$75 each for OEM. I went with Ebay aftermarket; 6 coils for about $80.
I recommend replacing the plugs with the exact same brand as original. There is no miracle plug that will give you better performance or mileage. Stay original.

P0316 = engine misfire
P0304 = #4 cyl
A very common problem is a bad COP or coil. They can be expensive ($75? at part store), so you could try switching the coil with another cylinder and see if the code changes location with the coil.
They are easy to replace. Unplug the connector. Remove the one screw (8mm?). Pull straight out.
