Assuming you have average mileage on your car i would suggest 5/40 fully synthetic, when the car starts to use oil,say a pint every 800 miles the use 10/40 semi.

I want to change my oil filter in Jaguar x type diesel model. Do I have to remove the bottom plate under the engine to get at it

Yes! You will have to remove 4 bolts (15mm Socket) and 6 torx screws (T30). Unclip the front 2 clips and slide the undercover to rear of the car.

X type diesel oil filter

Hi, the oil filter is a paper element item in a plastic housing, under the car on the front RHS of the engine. You need a end cap filter wrench to undo it. I've tried a set i borrowed and couldn't find one to fit. I had to make a tool in the end by taking a bolt with a head to match the hex shaped piece at the bottom of the housing and wleded bits of flat steel to it. You could use a correctly sized socket (24-26mm?) but be careful not to break it!! Also make sure you locate the O-ring for the filter correctly.

Dave
