SOURCE: I just broke the housing

Bad news, this part isn't "fixable"; just look it up at autoparts, looks pretty easy.
Also, you can find what you need at your local junkyard.

We have a 1997 Mercury Villager. I don't know how different it is from ours. We cannot remove the back seat. We can remove the middle seat and slide the back seat forward. I hope this helps.

this is what i came up with while looking into same issue with my 2000 merc villager 3.3l. "two bleeder screws one on the thermostat housing one somewhere on opposite side of engine fill overflow bottle start engine open the bolt slowly until you see bubbles or antifreeze when no bubbles no air
tighten bolt back up and done"

Where is the thermostat on a 1997 mercury villager?

Find the top radiator hose and follow it to the engine.
The hose should connect to the top area of the engine to what looks like an "elbow" with two bolts on each side. This "elbow" is the thermostat housing.
When these two bolts are removed...housing can be removed and thermostat is right there.

Hope this helps...

How do you change a thermostat in a 99 villager

Follow the large top radiator hose to the engine, the hose will be connected to a housing with bolts, the thermostat is located below this connection. Drain the coolant out of the radiator, undo the bolts, and gently pry the housing from the engine and remove thermostat. take old one with you to match it with new one.
