Question about Ford Mustang

I have a 2000 mustang gt with a 4.6 that the a.c. compressor has a loose pulley. I need a parts blow-up so i can determine if the pulley and clutch assembly can be changed, or if the compressor needs changed.

Check engine compartment to determine if compressor hub is turnable or is locked up, this hub is engaged to the pulley when it's cluctch is actuated(if its in parts you might only need a compressor clutch)

yes .you can rent a compressor clutch /pulley remover /installer from one of the auto parts store--pep boys,kragen or auto-zone.

2001 Mustang Gt A/C not cooling


You might not have enough R134A in it the system should hold 3 - 5 lbs of pressure if I remeber right. But if the clutch is kicking in then its working but you might not have enough R134A. Buy the kit that has the pressure guage with a trigger on it so you can add what you need. When you fill it turn car on and ac on high then fill it. When ac is off the clutch should spin freely if not then your compressor is junk. As for the slight grinding noise just to make sure with CAR OFF turn the clutch on the compressor and make sure its not rubbing the pulley on the compressor.
