The days of having a radiator recored are gone, and that would have to be done at a specialty shop. so you replace a radiator, you do not repair it. If you want to mess it up further you can go to any car parts store and they will have a host of radiator fix additive goos that you pour into a warm radiator. I have never found one that actually works, most just make the situation worse.

Simple yet effective @ ray gallant
Some auto supply chains websites even have diy instructions for those parts the repair manual leaves out, and if you use the manuals you have to use 5 different sections in order to get to the radiator you want to replace because of all the other stuff in the way oh and then re-assemble it using those same 5 sections but now in reverse order, here I'll start you on with the first thing in the manual, disconnect the battery lol

Radiator loosing water on a run ,not cyinder head . is it difficult to remove. thank you.have put sealant in but no joy.

no the radiator is not difficult to remove, and simple step by step instructions are available from numerous repair manuals. my personal preference is Hanes, their manuals are available at most auto parts stores.your manual will probably have to be ordered do to the make of your car,but will save you hundreds of dollars in repairs and maint.

Need manual for,or, info on overheating radiator,(radiator light comes on) but radiator is full, no leaks, and thermstat seems to be opening/closing. ?????????

If the thermostat is good and the radiator is full the only thing left is the water pump. I recommend the Haynes repair manual for addressing the replacement of the water pump.

How to replace a radiator in a 1996 chrysler town and country

If you decide to repair your car by yourself, first you must buy for your Car Year, Make, Model:
Hanyes Repair Manual
Based on a complete teardown and rebuilt.
The general procedure to replace the radiator is:
Open the hood, detach the front grille, plastic radiator cover, and disconnect fans wires.
Detach upper and lover radiator hose, collect and dispose properly the coolant. Detach upper radiator bracket. Take off the radiator with fans assembly. The full procedure is more than two pages, and you need more information how to flush and fill out the radiator. Repair is not impossible to be done, but a mistake may cost you dearly. If you decide to repair by yourself please do it right. If you feel uncomfortable, stop. If you feel confused stop, get more information, and restart next day fresh in the morning. This is a car dealer advising you.

My 1999 gmc jimmy is leaking coolant, how do I know if it is the radiator or a water pump problem??? is this a difficult repair if it is the radiator????

If the coolant is leaking out of the radiator or out of the bottom of the radiator support then it is the radiator. The water pump is attached to the front of the motor. It's directly behind the fan. If the coolant is leaking down the front of the the engine then it is the water pump. Changing the radiator is a relatively easy repair with basic hand tools. I suggest purchasing a Chilton or Haynes manual for your vehicle. It will do wonders for your confidence having pictures and step by step guidance while you do the repair project.

How do I replace the radiator

Drain coolant and save for reuse. Locate drain plug at bottom of radiator or remove lower hose from radiator (make sure engine is cold). Remove all hoses and wires. Remove fan(s). Remove top hold down bracket. Slide radiator out. Install is reverse. Advise obtaining repair manual. Read procedure several times.
