I have a BMWCompact 318, needing to know if the clutch is hydraulic?

you bleed like you would the brake system. there is a bleeder screw on the slave cylinder that you bleed the system.

find the clutch throw out arm and see if there is a cylinder there or a cable end there. Or look at the fire wall at the clutch pedal and see if you have a hydraulic cylinder there or a cable coming out.

Need to know year and engine size. I know that the 1999 Dakota 2.5L clutch hydraulic system comes as a pre-charged, completely sealed system including the reservoir, master/slave cylinders and the connecting lines. There is no means of disassembly. If you use aftermarket parts, you must buy the entire aftermarket set and assemble and bleed it.

you could need a new clutch or clutch fluid or they just need to be bled

The whole idea behind the Hydralic Clutch is there is no adjustment.If the clutch is slipping then you need a new one.If you are having trouble getting it into gear then you may have a bad clutch master and or slave cylinder.Let me know if i can help.

It might be the brake & clutch fluid wrong because it is too old inside. First time change the brake & clutch fluid. If the problem persists then replace both clutch master hydraulic cylinder and clutch receiver hydraulic cylinder. Bleed also correctly the clutch hydraulic line!

never heard of just changing the fluid as a fix! the system lost pressure somehow either due to a leak or bad seals in master or slave. i have seen this from normal wear and tear or thru contamination from the wrong oil being put into the resovoir, i believe you are right to assume your master or slave may have a problem in the future. good luck!

easy look on top of gearbox or transmission to see if there is a cable or hydraulic piston which ever there is thats wat it is
