Turn key all circuits are powered but car starter does not turn over motor

Move the shifter all the way to 1 than back to parking ,if it doesn,t start leave the shifter on nuetral ,that should solve the problem.

Truck will not start. Have power from battery. radio comes on. indicator panel lights up ok. NO crank when turning key


Have to make sure battery has a full charge and battery connections good. How long since a tune-up? Are there any applicable trouble codes?
If the starter motor won't crank, have to check starter wiring circuits. Usually two voltage circuits at the starter motor. One is battery voltage, hot all the time. The other circuit usually goes hot with the key in the crank position and may be wired through a relay and clutch or neutral switch, depending on the tranny. The ground for the starter motor is usually through the engine block. Any testing, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set. Safety is your responsibility when working on a vehicle.

I know you said it isn't the battery, forgive me, be sure the battery has a full charge and battery connections all good. Use a test lite and follow battery voltage. Battery ground is important also.
The battery voltage may lead to junction block--fusible links--fuse box?
At the fuse-box, pick any component that has a fuse, check fuse circuit for voltage, use a test lite. Some fuses are hot all the time, some go hot with key on, test both ways.
If the starter motor won't crank, check voltage and ground for the starter motor. Usually two voltage circuits at the starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other circuit goes hot with key in the crank position and is probably wired through the clutch or neutral switch then through the starter relay, where applicable, to the starter motor. The starter motor usually grounds through the engine block, so, battery negative connection is important.
Any testing at starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and functional parking brake is set. Safety is your responsibility. You don't want the vehicle to move during testing.

Make sure the battery has a full charge. Did you check voltage and ground circuits at the starter motor? Usually two voltage circuits at the starter motor, one comes from the battery, hot all the time. The other goes hot with key in the crank position and may be wired through neutral or clutch switch, depending on the tranny. Any testing at the starter motor, make sure tranny is in park or neutral and the parking brake is set. Use a testlight or digital multimeter to check for voltage. The starter motor ground should be through the engine block.
I can make suggestions on what to test, but, you have to do the testing.

Tdi clicks on cold start


Sounds like a flat or faulty battery. Try getting a jump-start from another vehicle. The clicking is probably from the starter relay.
The relay operates with a click switching the power through to the starter motor. If the battery is low, the starter motor draws so much current that it effectively short circuits the starter relay which releases.
Now the starter motor is disconnected, there is enough current to re-operate the relay, another click, and the starter motor is reconnected and short circuits the relay again etc. This clicking continues until the battery runs completely flat or you stop turning your key.

GMC 6.0L starter does not engage


To check the starter: key off, transmission in park or neutral, brake set. Pull off the small wire to starter solenoid. Then use a small jumper wire from battery cable post on the starter to the solenoid terminal (can also use a small screwdriver to bridge those terminals). Starter motor should engage the flywheel and spin the engine. If nothing, starter motor or solenoid is bad. If starter works, check for power on the small solenoid wire, with key held in crank. Wire should have power, if not, check start circuit from ignition switch to solenoid-the neutral safety switch is in that circuit.

You need to take a quick flow check on the circuit. Use a multimeter or a 12 volt tail lamp with one side grounded to check the +12 on the circuit. Start from the voltage to the starter solenoid, if absent the key switch is faulty. If not the output at the solenoid to the starter motor must be checked. If present then the starter motor is faulty, possible failure of the brushes, the commutators or the windings.
Also if there is power and the starter appears jammed, then the pinion/flywheel can be faulty.

Several tries before engine will crank


first check your battery and battery cables may be the the starter solenoid is not recieving enough power to close the contacts to close the circuit for the motor to energiz . then check starter motor

Chech the electrical circuit from the ignition key to the starter motor
To test this circuit an automotive test light is needed.
Attach one end of the test light to engine ground and the other end at the starter trigger terminal of the starter solenoid.
The test light should illuminate when the ignition switch is activated (crank engine over).
If the test light illuminates the starter motor/solenoid has failed and needs to be replaced.
If the test light does not illuminate suspect a neutral safety switch or clutch safety switch if provided.
A wiring diagram is needed to trace power from the ignition switch through the safety switch and down to the starter solenoid.
Replace failed components as needed and recheck system.
