Why is my clutch sticking to the floor and why won't it shift into gear when the car is on?

Ok Matt,I got you covered, when your clutch master cylinder goes empty, your clutch slave is leaking and not holding pressure, you can fill reservoir and bleed to get you home,I've did it in my 85 nissan 720 4x4 before, you can have someone pump clutch pedal a few times and hold to floor and you open bleeder valve at slave cylinder till air is gone, just don't let resevoir get low. Here is a link to bleeding, your slave cylinder is bolted to side of transmission with 2 bolts.Be careful and don't strip bleeder screw, you can get part at Autozone, also get dot 3 brake fluid, this autozone iis not showing a guide to replace, here's one from a 85 nissan, very similar.

Could be your clutch slave cylinder is bad, check your clutch fluid,if real low or empty then it is bad,it's located on the side of the transmission with a hydraulic hose connected to it,I have a 85 Nissan 720 4x4 5- speed, had to replace mine a few times. Here's a link on how to do. It really sound like you are going to need a new clutch. If the slave or master cylinders were bad they would feel loose, a stiff pedal usually means something came apart in the pressure plate.

My 1994 Nissan Altima's clutch is leaking fluid and the clutch goes all the way down to the floor, it will not go into gear

The solution is pretty cut-and-dry. Fix the fluid leak and your transmission will go into gear. I don't know what to tell you to fix exactly because I do not know where it is leaking from. If it is leaking from the slave cylinder, replace the slave cylinder; If it is leaking from the master cylinder, replace the master cylinder, etc.

Fixing just one part of the clutch may not be the best option for you however. Clutch parts seem to wear out all within a few thousand miles of one-another. Depending on how many miles are on your vehicle you may want to do a complete clutch replacement so you won't have any further clutch problems for several years.
