I have the same proble. i got the panel to work but that was by hooking a power wire straight to the harnest hooked to the ignition. I think that cancels out the computer so i think it has to be a relay or hidden fuse behind the fuse box or blown wire somthing. I need help. I will keep you posted on my findings if you will do the same plz.

Pull the fuse for the dash gauges. Could be corrosion. If that doesn't fix it. Remove the instrument panel, pull the plug and put it back in. Corrosion again. Since it worked before and "all" the gauges went south. Either one of these should fix your problem.

Where is the brain for 2000 jimmy

Unfortunately, there isn't any "brain" that will get your instruments working. Find the instrument panel fuse block and check 10A CRUISE fuse 3, 10A GAUGES fuse 4, 10A CLUSTR fuse 11, 15A RDO BATT fuse 19, 10A CTSY LAMP fuse 8, 10A RDO IGN fuse 24, and 10A ILLUM fuse 12. If all fuses check OK, most of the instruments should be working

Instrument panel went dead

Checked Every fuse in the fuse box (no small task). This includes #4 - Power point Instrument Panel, #14 - Day time running lamps (auto lamps doesn't work nor does auto lock), #27 - ignition switch run feed, #35 - Instrument Cluster, #41 - Instrument Cluster, #42 - Delayed Accessory, #45 - Ignition switch run/start feed, #102 - Door locks body security module, #103 - Ignition switch, #110 - Ignition switch, & #116 - Ignition switch. But I also check all other ones as well, they all register OK. AC panel & radio work. Turn signals work. Mileage does not work, trip computer does. So, basically, everything works except auto head-lights, auto locks, and the dash cluster (no MPH, RPM, mileage display, Fuel, Temp, Tran Temp, and Oil Pressure).

It seems that the bulbs went out or the ribbon cable that runs behind the instrument panel burned out check on a junkyard for a replacement instrument panel and replace it, verify that the truck you pull out the instrument cluster is the same year and the same model.

Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

Windshield wipers

The fuse panel is under the instrument panel to the left of the steering column. Lift the handle to unlatch the panel and pull it down. The windshield wiper/washer system uses a circuit breaker in position #2 in the fuse panel. If your washer is working the circuit breaker is OK.
