Rear harness was bad they replaced with trailer harness and trying to fig out what yellow brown light green an dark green are on frame of truck it hooked in to so i can fix i un hooked not knowing what had...

Your description, I take it, is a problem with the wiring harness going from the driver's compartment to the rear lights. If that is the case, the normal color code for GM is brown for tail lights, dark green for the right stop & turn, yellow for the left stop & turn and light green for the backup lights. Any black wires should be grounded. The white wire in the trailer harness is for a ground when used on a trailer. It sounds like you have the green and yellow T&S wires shorted together somewhere! Some of the later vehicles use separate stop and turn bulbs... these would have a separate wire for the stop lights only, but I don't think your truck is new enough for that. Good luck!

1996 Ford Contour blow fuse when in reverse

You most likely have corrosion or a short in the socket(s) of your white back up lights. Remove the bulb(s) and inspect the socket base. Clean out any corrosion. The back up light switch is on the shift linkage. The Switch could have shorted internally or the wiring from the switch to the back up lights can be grounded somewhere on the chassis / body / frame. You will need to perform resistance checks to ground with the back up light bulb(s) removed. If you have shorts to ground with bulbs removed you have a wiring problem. Keep in mind that if you have 2 wires to the light... one wire is power and the 2nd wire is ground (usually green). A back up light bulb that is loose in the bulb base and has twisted the 2 wires together from vibration will also cause the fuse to fail.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Of the 3 wires that feed into the headlight bulbs on my 2000 F350, I need to know which is positive and which is ground

The BLACK wires are ground. The LIGHT GREEN/BLACK wires are your high beam circuits. Then the low beam circuits are DARK GREEN/ORANGE on the right side and DARK BLUE/WHITE on the left side.

1998 ford e150 one headlight dont work already tried new light

If you replaced the bulb and are sure the new one is good, you have a wiring concern. First you need to be sure the terminals at the headlamp connector are making a tight connection. If this is good, check for a good ground at the black wire by using a test light with the clip connected to the positive battery terminal. Touch the test light to the black wire and it should light. If ground is good check for voltage, again using the test light but with the clip on the negative terminal. Test at the red/black wire for low beams or the light green/black wire for high beam. Low beams use 10 amp fuses #'s 25 and 31. High beam uses fuse # 30 and is 15 amp. If voltage or ground is not present and the fuse is good you need to trace the circuit and repair the wire.

2003 ford ranger 7 pin wiring for a trailer all I need is what the colors on the wiring are blue/yellow/green/black/brown/white

White is ground, black is power to trailer battery trickle charge, blue is brakes, green is tail/running lights, red is left turn signal and left brake light, brown is right turn signal and right brake light, yellow is aux power/back up lights. This is the general color coding, there are exceptions, white, black, and blue are pretty much always as listed above, sometimes the others vary. If you find you are having trouble, post any further questions here, I'll be glad to help out. Curt

ok the easiest way to check is to take a voltage probe and check each wire this way it will tell you which wire is recieving current. the positive side should be marked either red, yellow or green with black stripe and sometimes orange. on the ground side it should be marked black, white, turn signals should be green for right side and yellow with black stripe for left. running and parking lights should be brown. back up lights are marked blue.
